Weekend Observations — Democrats
I just returned from Ohio on Hillary Clinton’s plane and wanted to offer some broad observations about the weekend before the Wisconsin and Hawaii primaries.
First, no one besides Chelsea is campaigning in Hawaii (revealing if nothing else Chelsea’s brilliant ability to manipulate the Clinton schedulers. Think about it, Chelsea’s in Hawaii and the former leader of the free world is in Texarkana and Nacogdoches).
But I digress. After several interviews with senior Clinton aides this must should be known about Wisconsin — they don’t expect to win it and they don’t expect it be particularly close. Sen. Clinton will step foot for the first time in Wisconsin tomorrow night for the Founder’s Dinner (a party dinner and “big” event). Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama will both speak, marking the closest thing Wisconsin Democrats will see to a one-on-one debate (meaning not very close at all).
Clinton ran a second attack ad today on Obama. Outwardly, it would appear the ad buys are designed to demonstrate a serious effort in Wisconsin. They do not. The ads are designed to push up Obama’s negatives in Wisconsin and Ohio and Texas (how, you might reasonably ask?). The national media (your faithful correspondent included) have dutifully reported on the ads as have interested Ohio and Texas reporters. Thus the Wisconsin ads have echoed a bit in Hillary’s big March 4 states and at a relatively cheap price of Wisconsin media (much cheaper than Houston, Dallas, or Cleveland).
Obama can and has reasonably asked what gives Clinton the right to attack him in Wisconsin when she hasn’t even campaigned there. Obama’s working the state hard and seeks first and foremost to win blue-collar Democrats in and around Janesville, Milwaukee, Kenosha and elsewhere to prove to blue-collar Ohio Democrats that his message resonates in Wisconsin.
In this way, Obama wants what happens in Wisconsin Tuesday to reverberate in Ohio — in a way more memorably than Clinton’s attack ads. Obama’s methodical approach is first about victories and second about boosting the size of those victories. Consider this: since Super Tuesday the smallest Obama margin of victory was 19 points in the Feb. 10 Maine caucuses.
Running up the score garners delegates, momentum, slack-jawed media coverage (my jaw excluded), and believers. That’s what Obama wants from Wisconsin and Hawaii - a big vote differential and as many pledged delegates as he can collect. Remember, Obama expects a Clinton fight over Superdelegates and the Obama camp wants a three-pronged counter argument: he’s won more contests, more votes, and more pledged delegates. That’s why running up the score in Wisconsin and Hawaii matters and why Clinton’s visits from Saturday through Monday and the ad buys are designed to minimize the damage — hold back the rout, in other words.
Meanwhile, Bill Clinton will be in Ohio Sunday and since he, like Hillary, has picked up the pace of attacks on Obama, it’s worth keeping an ear peeled for Bill. The former president’s attacks have not been well-received, generally and in Ohio he brings one notable albatross — NAFTA.
Blue collar Ohio Democrats see NAFTA as the cause of tens of thousands of manufacturing job loses throughout the state. Permanent trade status with China is a bird of a similar feather and equally loathed. Bill Clinton had war rooms built to pass both and both are inextricably linked to his economic legacy, a legacy Hillary increasingly leans on to differentiate her experience and record from Obama’s. NAFTA and permanent trade with China maker Clinton appearances in Ohio on Hillary’s behalf a bit cumbersome - especially as Hillary tries to downplay any previous enthusiasm she displayed about free trade.

These two guys Hannity and colmes foxstv presenters are out to bring down Obama now. everyday nagative word of Obama. we are tired. it would not work. OBAMA IS THE MAN. oKAY Iknow you conser.guys are begining to fear the heavyweight contender .

Attention all republicans in the Primary States soon to vote… I know it will be hard to keep the vomit down. But, vote for Hillary. This will cause the Democratic Party to continue to tear itself apart. Make a donation to McCain”””’’s campaign next week and pull the lever that says Hillary.. We””””ll thank you for taking one for the Team! Rush Limbaugh is even suggesting this. Do it.
Can someone please answer the question, has Hillary Clinton come clean with her taxes as of yet?
If Obama doesn’t win the primary, I’m voting for McCain in the Fall - Thanks to the Clinton Camp, the “kitchen sink” knocked me out!
I wonder when we will hear about Hillarys past ie WHITEWATER and why wont she release
her tax returns. One more point what is her relarionship to MR HSU the convicted felon
I think it was unfair to continuously air the redundant ” red telephone - Hillary Clinto ads. As a woman and an Independent registered Massachusetts voter- it sickens me that Mrs Clinton used her status as a woman to gain sympathy and momentum. The reason I didn’t support Mrs. Clinton- is because she is Mrs. Clinton- I will give my opinion of why I didn’t support or her ” tired old messages- that were used during her husbands campaign- I feel by supporting her - he will be in the background running the office and acting in a behavior that is not exceptable- which was a torrid embarrasment to the office of the Presidency- the respect and deceny to a spouse in the santitiy of marriage- supposedely - America’s oldest institution- and the economy wasn’t any better because Mr. Clinton stepped into an office that was engaged in economics/ and consistently depended the the advice from Alan Greenspan- The ecomony is not going to be fixed if Mrs Clinton is in office- or Bill again- because its going to take another 4-6 years to reverse the processes. The United Staes like most modern countries is a ” large coporate business” and when businesses are in financial trouble- bankruptcy- is an option- in this case the War- has bankrupted this country financially- and its people emotionally- We are not any safer from terrorist violence from the east - we are at risk more from the violences in our own nation- All these candidtates - not one has mentioned the sate of affairs of our youth- the violence - the domestic violences in our own nation- I believe if we don’t elect Mr Barack Obama- and present to the world a new- modern - political America - showing what Democracy is really about- it doesn’t show our best America- If these Middles Eastern countries - defy- women in everyday life- what is Hillary Clinton going to do- on her trips to the Middle East- Is she planning to go out to the battlefields of Iraq- deal with Mr Armidimijad - and the Prime minisiter Musharrif? These nations have no- next to little respect for Democracy - let alone a woman-
If John McCain becomes President- we might as well re-elect George Bush- and his Dad, and the Clintons- To me when Mr Obama speaks to ” real change I voted for him because I believe that is what is best for America- in order to go forward in this next decade- Real Change means- Cleaning the White House- clean house and lets try something new- New Blood- for the next 4 years how much could it hurt this nation- to see the effect- Mr Obama has. We once had an “actor” for a president Ronald Reagan- what was his experience as a president?
Most responses from Africa- and other nations- Japan - ( once our enemy- on domestic and international front - Pearl Harbor)- now - we see they have embraced Mr. Obama and Americas for that choice. That to me is a favorable sign- War- is good for economics- it creates money- and cost lives- Our planet has been at war since its existence with ever living being available- I see where that has gotten us at 49 years old- and the answer is the same- No-where. We are in debt in America because of greed, credit cards, just to name a few- Mr Clinton and his administration didn’t do much to educate the USA and its people, or warn these credit cards - big political backers- to have strict guidlines- they ran wild- like horses- and stampeded- thru every penny- Americans had , until most were in debt. How are these candiadtes Mr. McCain, Mrs. Clinton- going to fix- that problem- They can’t. I voted for Mr. Obama because- I believe he knows what its like to struggle- and survive in America - Something, I don’t think the other candidates have been born into. When other nations see this type of American , it does speak to change- As a woman , I didn’t vote for Hillary Clinton, because I felt- she had the opportunity to show many Americans - while her husband was in office what her strong point were- by- joining or volunteering to low-income groups- veterans- Native Americans ( original inhabitants). While she was in the Senate- what has she done- for the cost of oil, the economy in general- New York is one of the most expensive places to live- with sizeable poverty. I am also concerned about her husband- where is he going to be-= while she is running the oval office- I don’t feel taxpayers- should have to pay for more possible blatant affairs- that concerns me- and that is my opinion- it is based on his past factual history- which ended up in our court systems. If Hillary Clinton recieves the Democratic Nomination- I will not vote in my November Election- I will not vote for John McCain- because we cannot continue to support 2-3 countries- on one America taxpayers salary any further- I want to start to save for my own American lifestyle-, which economically, has been directly effected- with the constant high cost of taxes, food, electricity-oil, and healthcare. Can I go to Iraq and get anything for my taxpayer investment? NO. I also wish these candidates would stop threatening us with their war-fear tactics- if these terrorists want to attack America- we have already allowed plenty of people to enter this country over the past 10 years. M,r Bush , himself told us - that homegrown terrorism was possible here. To me change means- removing the old polotical regimes and starting new. This letter is my own opinion, I am entiled as an American to express my vies, and support the candidate- I feel will do the most for the United States of America- I wish this country would change its style- for starters- it would be nice to really be a unified nation- Mr. McCains experience in war- would be great in the presidents cabinet- But, all three of these candidates - have NO EXPERIENCE as the President of the United States- just because - I might work at a hospital as a doctor- doesn’t mean - I know how to run a hospital- which is a business/medical facility. Experience is achieved through on-the-job job and education. VOTE TO CHANGE AMERICA!

How about an investigation and report
about Oprah Winfrey’s involvement and influence
in relationship to the Trinity Church, Pastor Wright,
and Barak Obama … or, is Oprah too powerful of a
sacred cow to take on?
Who does Barack Obama think he is fooling. It is a scarry thought to even remotely think of him as being our commander in chief. He said that Wright preached to him about the poor. The poor who? I’ll tell you who, the poor blacks. Barack is not representing all the people. When I hear him speak, I get the feeling that he is speaking directly to blacks. I’m sorry but he is not speaking truthfully when he says he is denouncing Wright. After twenty years, you can’t tell me that he has not heard these sermons before. He just got caught with his hand in the cookie jar and he is going to say and do anything that he has to. I have to hand it to Hillary when she said that we don’t know anything about this guy. After the South Carolina primary, Michelle Obama was asked if she was surprised about the results. Her comment was no because people should vote for their own. I guess in her mind, white people are chopped liver. It is very apparent that Wright has had a big influence in Obama’s life as well as his wife. All I can say is better to know now than later. The Democrats have a real mess on their hands. I pray that it does not overflow into the general election and may God help this country.
