The role of a senior strategist is to find ways to help their candidate improve their position with voters not make the news be about themselves. Mark Penn has had a habit of letting the media spotlight shine on him sometimes more than HRC, and this time, it resulted in a demotion. Keep in mind, HRC has already paid Penn over $12,000,000 for his services, I’m sure his new position will cut his billing rate, I know we all hope he can survive on that new lower rate.

Remember, Mark Penn is the man behind the women who is behind Barack H. Obama and now he has taken a step back himself. For the Clinton Campaign, I guess this is considered progress.

Hillary has a problem, and a change of strategy is not going to solve it. She and Obama share basically the same spot on the political spectrum. They would be great allies if they both wanted to have long legislative careers. But, neither of them wants a long legislative career. Both of them ran for the United States Senate not to be a Senator, but rather, as the jumping off place for being in Presidential Race.

When Hillary was first elected to the Senate in 2000 it was not to meet the needs of long term New York constituents. Heck, she needed to live apart from her husband, at least on paper, to become a resident of New York and thus eligible for the Senate Race. Then she marched through the past 8 years, correctly judging that John Kerry was not going to win against Bush (she really is not as stupid as her opponents portray her to be). Then she built a large exploratory committee and came into the 2008 campaign as “THE PRESUMPTIVE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE”. She also spent money like the presumptive nominee that could come in handy now. Being the nominee, she figured by early March she would be working on her VP and Cabinet Selections for the tough campaign ahead. At least that was the battle plan — forget who the strategist was — it was everybody’s expectation sort of like finding the weapons of mass destruction (oops another story scratch that one).

Then the unthinkable happened. Somebody who came from the same spot on the political bandwidth as her — Barrack Obama started picking her apart in March and moved in front of her in delegates. What Hillary did not realize was that in a person to person matchup Obama was winning over her. The folks that shared both of their views liked Obama more than they liked Hillary.

Then it happened. It late March both sides started throwing bombs at the other side, and we are not talking about regular bombs, but the political “WEAPONS OF MASS DESDRUCTION”.

Hillary supporters have claimed that Obama is a Muslim Terrorist in Hiding; a racist; even ready to degrade all the weapons of our troops; etc.

Barrack supporters have claimed that Hillary is going to surrender to Iraq on January 20, 2009, end MLK Day; Have Obama’s grandmother drug tested and x-rayed to see if there was any damage when Obama threw her under the bus, etc.

Note the above examples are deliberately over the top — just like the actual charges of racism, terrorism etc. are in reality over the top.

Folks, I disagree with both Hillary and Obama based on their policies, but I do not think either has a secret plan to take over America.

So where does this take us? By the time the Denver Convention arrives in late August, it appears that the Democratic Candidates will have spent close to $250 MILLION DOLLARS. WHAT DOES A QUARTER BILLION BUY YOU? You need to let a bunch of party insiders select the party nominee in a smoke filled room. (Note the smoke in that room is not covered by the $250 million and would have to be provided by the DNC.

This is utterly ridiculous. We cannot continue on having a QUARTER BILLION DOLLAR process does not decide anything — because in the end, not one of the Democratic Primary voters mattered — IT WILL ALL BE DONE BY THE SUPER DELEGATES.

One great thing, those delegates coming to Denver will have a great view of the Rockies while they are waiting to see the color of the smoke coming out of the College of Super Delegates at the Pepsi Center.

With Hillary staying in the race (and possibly winning),it postpones Obama’s swift demise at the hands of the GOP. Most will think Penn’s exit is a positive thing. In fact people in PA will probably not notice.
Pennsylvania is a very conservative state and very anti -abortion. Obama’s speech mentioning his daughters possibility of being “punished” by a child they did not want is not going to get him votes there.
Maybe if those 700,000 college students get up in time to vote, he may have a chance to come within 10. This may turn out to be similar to New Hampshire. They could want to seem more open minded to pollsters calling. Remember, Pennsylvania has not had a say in the election in years and may be pollster shy.

Unfortunately for that planned coronation the unthinkable happened. Somebody who came from the same political bandwidth as Hillary, Barrack Obama started wiping her out in March and; horror of horrors; actually moved in front of Hillary in delegates. What the Hillary camp, populated by lifetime admirers could not realize was that in a real world person to person matchup Obama was winning over Hillary. Her two rays of hope were with voters who considered the gender of the candidate to be major selection criteria somewhere between 65% to 75% for Hillary. The other group was those who consider the race of the candidate to be a major factor in deciding who to vote for currently 55% favoring Obama. That last factor was important due to it being only an issue for a small percentage of white voters, while it was a much larger issue for black voters. In general, white voters who thought race was a major characteristic selected white candidates, though there were still a significant amount of crossovers. The black voters who considered race to be significant voted strongly black.
The rest shall we say is history. All of a sudden race became a battle of charge and counter charge – Obama is a Racist, Hillary is Guilty of Scandal etc. etc.
So where does this take us? By the time the Denver Convention arrives in late August, it appears that the 2 major Democratic candidates will have spent close to $250 million dollars. For what? To let a bunch of party insiders select the party nominee in a smoke filled room. Isn’t that what all of the reform was about – coming up with a process that would give the voters the power and take it away from the insiders? Guess what? It Aint Working!!

I was listening to Gretchen on Fox this morning. She made the statement that she was “fair and unbiased” about this ’story’. Two minutes before she and others were grasping there hands in victory stating “June is wrapped up”…wink wink…grin grin.

You, Gretchen, are pathetic. There is nothing “fair and unbiased” about the way you or any of your media cohorts are handling this campaign. I’m particularly upset about women “journalists” trashing a very worthy female candidate. It’s as if you know nothing about history or the struggles of women. 100 years ago we couldn’t even vote. Another Classic Clinton Moment.

What’s inevitable is that there will be more and more and more lies from Hillary Clinton.

She lies when she doesn’t even have to. It’s her fatal flaw.

She’s a “fighter” who fights to win votes and then dashes off to South Dakota to vehemently insist to pledged delagates for Obama that in her mind “there is no such thing as pledged delegates.

She’ll change the rules of the game and say that opposition to the Iraq war should be measaured from January 26, 2005, when Obama became a U.S. Senator. And then, hours later when it’s shown that even by her new (fake, liary) standard he STILL preceeded her in being against the war (that she voted for) she moves on to the next lie.

She’s done making up stories (that she didn’t have time to vet) about prenant women who are turned away from hospitals because they don’t have $100.

She’s no longer saying she brought Peace to Northern Ireland, because the guy that won the Nobel for it says she is “a wee bit silly” to inflate her role there, and that she did nothing.

And she, the self-proclaimed “Rocky” the fighter of the working class, who turns out to have 70 million dollars in cash, can’t be bothered to pay grocery stores and Vendors (to the tune of millions) back in Iowa because you know what? Iowa already voted and she and her staff have already eaten those deli trays and sandwiches.

But the real issue is actually being hidden. Her husband, whom she insinuates will be her “co-president” as she allegedly was to him (though the White House papers clearly disprove it) has recieved over 500 million dollars in donations to a Presidential Library that cost 165 million dollars to build.

Who gave the HUNDREDS of millions of dollars in that fund, and what kind of return do they expect on their investment?

We know that among the donars are the Sheik of Dubai, and the Saudi Royal Family. That’s on the record.

What do they expect from the “co-President” for their HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS?

Other candidates are limited to accepting a maximum of $2,300. Obama accepts no PAC money, so he has no large donors waiting for payback.

THAT is the real issue.

The announcement from Senator Clinton’s presidential campaign that Mark Penn has resigned as chief strategist is not enough to assuage one of Mr. Penn’s top critics in the labor movement. The president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, James Hoffa, said through an aide tonight that the change is of little significance, since Mr. Penn will continue to advise and poll for Mrs. Clinton’s presidential bid.

“Demotion doesn’t answer General President Hoffa’s concerns. Mark Penn is still on her payroll and Burson-Marsteller’s payroll,” a spokeswoman for Mr. Hoffa, Leigh Strope, said. “Title demotion doesn’t indicate loss of influence.”

In a statement on Friday, Mr. Hoffa called for Mr. Penn’s ouster. “Someone like Mark Penn should not be dictating strategy, and possibly legislation, for a Democratic candidate for president,” the Teamster leader said.

The Teamsters have endorsed Mrs. Clinton’s rival for the Democratic nomination, Senator Obama of Illinois. While the recent criticism of Mr. Penn was triggered by a report in the Wall Street Journal that he met with Colombia’s ambassador to discuss strategy to promote the country’s free trade deal with America, the Teamsters’ issues with Mr. Penn go beyond the trade deal. They are also at odds over Burson-Marsteller’s work on behalf of Cintas Corp., which the Teamsters and another union, Unite Here, have been attempting to organize for years.

So, lets understand this – she has this guy as her chief stategist – without knowing exactly what the company he is continuing to work for is involved in. Not too smart! Says something about her judgement!

Why is it that everything regarding Mrs. Clinton’s situation is pitched up against impossible odds. Polls reflect the way people are in the morning. By the evening they are thinking otherwise.

It is good to get rid of a person who, despite great technical talents, does not think about the big picture. That has been the problem with her efforts up to now. Now that can change.

I believe she has more to offer than a stump speech. Bush had an agent of change stump speech too. What we got was an ineffective manager and a person who gets lost in his own office. Someone who offers a more tough exterior but a get it done attitude may offer us a more viable president.

I do not believe Obama can carry the White middle-class vote nationally. He is too liberal. With John Kerry and Ted Kennedy as backers, his idea of middle of the road is way left of center. Clinton is more in the center, in my opinion.

Although he can build a team too, he does not seem to have the same character. I do not need a president as psychologist or cheerleader but as leader. The problems facing the US are not going away. We are in a downward spiral internationally and not stopping. IF we do not address the problems we have, the dominance of China and India will be complete in under 25 years. The result will be a poorer US. The services we want as citizens must be financed. Without business it is over.

Look at the auto industry. It is spreading into every other industry. The world is now flat and those who think they are safe are fools. We have to reshape our methods and message. If not, we risk following in the footsteps of England 200 years ago, or Rome 1000 years ago.

Leadership is not cheerleading.

It is most unfortunate that the Hillary campaign is based so much on misinformation. The Colombian government has made impressive strides towards eliminating abuse of “syndicalists”. This is to be commended, particularly of a staunch US ally.
It is unfortunate that both Hillary and Obama ignore (or turn a blnd eye) to the truth in order to appease the AFL-CIO, et. al. They are interested in money and votes, not in cultivating hemispheric friendships (that are precious few nowadays).

Yes, Mark Penn is a disgrace to the Noble Name William Penn founder of Pennsylvania. The voters and Patriots of this great State may well make the connection that this is no casulal coincidence. The sons and daughters of the Keystone State can clearly see the Clinton campaign as a dog and pony show, not be worthy of their consideration when compared to the Excellent Example of William Penn of community and leadership. There exists the difference between east and west, of Mark Penn and William Penn, let the good voters of Pennsylvania reflect what their State stands for by rejecting Clintonism. The Clintons can keep Mark Penn; Pennsylvanians will keep William Penn. Obama 08, Judgment we can Trust, Change we can Believe in, Hope not despair.

On the same day that she proposed creating a cabinet-level position devoted to ending poverty, Hillary Clinton and her husband reported earning more than $109 million over eight years in newly released tax data.

Hillary and Bill Clinton paid $33.8 million in federal taxes from 2000 through 2007. They listed $10.25 million in charitable contributions during that period.

The total income reported in that period was $109.2 million, with the most money — $51.9 million — coming from Bill Clinton’s speech income. Earnings from his two books — “My Life ” and “Giving” — totaled $29.6 million.

Hillary Clinton had $10.5 million in income from her book “Living History.” She donated earnings from her other book, “It Takes a Village,” to charity. Plus she earned about $1 million through her Senate salary and her husband earned a little over $1 million through his presidential pension.

They reported their after-tax earnings at $57.2 million.

“The Clintons have now made public thirty years of tax returns, a record matched by few people in public service. None of Hillary Clinton’s presidential opponents have revealed anything close to this amount of personal financial information,” the Clinton campaign said in a statement.

The campaign released tax returns from 2000 through 2006 and gave highlights from their 2007 return. The Clintons have asked for an extension for filing their 2007 tax returns, citing the dissolution of a blind trust last year.

Clinton had been under mounting pressure to release the tax returns, especially from rival Barack Obama, who posted his 2000 to 2006 returns on his campaign Web site last week.

Barack and Michelle Obama’s income was significantly less than the Clintons’. They earned close to $1 million in 2006, according to their returns.

The itemized earnings the Clinton campaign provided in its summary only added up to $94 million, leaving $15 million unaccounted for.

But that difference can probably be located in practically one source. Besides speeches and books, Bill Clinton’s biggest single business income is from his partnership with Yucaipa Global Opportunities Fund, a Los Angeles-based investment firm founded by longtime Clinton fundraiser Ron Burkle. Between 2003 and 2006, the returns show total Yucaipa partnership income of $12.5 million. The 2007 summary provided by the campaign lists $2.75 million in partnership income.

President Clinton also has been an adviser to InfoUSA, a data company whose chief executive, Vinod Gupta, has been a major donor to Democrats and gave at least $1 million to Bill Clinton’s presidential library in Arkansas. Clinton received $400,000 in payments from the company in 2006 and 2007, according to the documents.

The Clintons last made their returns public in 2000 when they reported an adjusted gross income of $416,039. Since then, the former president has embarked on a number of business ventures and has made millions from speaking engagements.

Clinton’s tax returns show that of the remaining presidential candidates, she is the one most able to access large amounts of personal money. She lent her campaign $5 million in late February and could contribute more if she finds herself falling far behind Obama’s proficient fundraising.

Neither Obama nor Republican Sen. John McCain have made their 2007 tax returns public, though both say they will this month.

Clinton said earlier Friday in Memphis, as she spoke in memory of Martin Luther King Jr., that she would appoint a cabinet-level position “fully devoted to ending poverty as we know it in America.”

Kate Obenshain, of the conservative Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute, told FOX News: “There is an irony of putting this out on the day that you announce a cabinet-level position for poverty czar.”

But she said Republicans likely wouldn’t criticize her just for making money.

Democratic strategist Kirsten Powers said the tax returns do not conflict at all with Clinton’s statements on poverty.

“I reject the idea that there’s some sort of conflict between people who make a lot of money actually caring about the poor,” she said.

This is what Dick Morris said: Her lifelong pattern of secrecy was once again evident. While publicly promoting transparency in government, she steadfastly refuses to release her personal income tax returns. That’s a clear tip-off that there’s something to hide. Recall that the Clintons selectively released tax returns in Arkansas, but refused to go back to 1980, when Hillary had her windfall in cattle futures. During the debate, Hillary suggested that she’d release the returns “soon,” but her staff quickly backtracked. She implied that she’s been too busy to deal with releasing the returns. Does she really think anyone believes that it will take more than simply making a copy of the return? She’s stalling and there’s a reason for that.
Most likely, the return will show how much Bill has been making from his partnership with the Sheik of Dubai and his other business ventures. Should the spouse of a presidential candidate be in business with a foreign leader who needs favors from the U.S. government? Definitely not. That’s why we’ll never see those returns.
And then there are the Clinton Library records that document her schedule as first lady. She doesn’t want them released either because they will definitively show that she was never the co-president. The Library has been stalling on the release of those documents for years. During the debate, she said that she wanted them released as quickly as possible and seemed to blame the Bush administration for the delay. Michael Scheuer, head of the CIA’s bin Laden unit, and some US counternarcotics officials are particularly intrigued by a pattern they see between the flight patterns of Bout’s airplanes to and from Afghanistan and the hunting vacations of some Persian Gulf royals. Many of the Persian Gulf elite are known to regularly go bird hunting in Afghanistan, sometimes meeting Taliban ruler Mullah Omar and/or Osama bin Laden during their hunting trips (see 1995-2001). US analysts notice that there is a surge of Bout-controlled flights to Afghanistan in February and March of each year, the same time many royal elite fly to Afghanistan on their private jets in time for the migration of thousands of houbara bustards through Afghanistan. Then, in early autumn, there is another surge of flights by both Bout’s planes and the royal jets when the bustards migrate through the country again. Officials at the CIA’s counternarcotics center suspect some of the royals are using the hunting flights as cover to export heroin. The Bout flights increase the suspicion, since he is a known drug trafficker as well as an arms dealer. Scheuer will later comment, “They were very interested on the counternarcotics side about the patterns between Bout’s flights and the bustard-hunting season.” British intelligence is interested in the same thing, and at one point they approach United Arab Emirates (UAE) officials for permission to sneak a team of agents aboard one of Bout’s flights to search for Afghan heroin. Julie Sirrs. [Source: Julie Sirrs]Julie Sirrs, a military analyst for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), travels to Afghanistan. Fluent in local languages and knowledgeable about the culture, she had made a previous undercover trip there in October 1997. She is surprised that the CIA was not interested in sending in agents after the failed missile attack on bin Laden in August 1998, so she returns at this time. Traveling undercover, she meets with Northern Alliance leader Ahmed Shah Massoud. She sees a terrorist training center in Taliban-controlled territory. Sirrs claims, “The Taliban’s brutal regime was being kept in power significantly by bin Laden’s money, plus the narcotics trade, while [Massoud’s] resistance was surviving on a shoestring. With even a little aid to the Afghan resistance, we could have pushed the Taliban out of power. But there was great reluctance by the State Department and the CIA to undertake that.” She partly blames the interest of the US government and the oil company Unocal to see the Taliban achieve political stability to enable a trans-Afghanistan pipeline (see May 1996) (see September 27, 1996). She claims, “Massoud told me he had proof that Unocal had provided money that helped the Taliban take Kabul.” She also states, “The State Department didn’t want to have anything to do with Afghan resistance, or even, politically, to reveal that there was any viable option to the Taliban.” After two weeks, she returns with a treasure trove of maps, photographs, and interviews. [ABC News, 2/18/2002; New York Observer, 3/11/2004] By interviewing captured al-Qaeda operatives, she learns that the official Afghanistan airline, Ariana Airlines, is being used to ferry weapons and drugs, and learns that bin Laden goes hunting with “rich Saudis and top Taliban officials” (see Mid-1996-October 2001) (see 1995-2001). [Los Angeles Times, 11/18/2001] When she returns from Afghanistan, her material is confiscated and she is accused of being a spy. Says one senior colleague, “She had gotten the proper clearances to go, and she came back with valuable information,” but high level officials “were so intent on getting rid of her, the last thing they wanted to pay attention to was any information she had.” She is cleared of wrongdoing, but her security clearance is pulled. She eventually quits the DIA in frustration in 1999. Bin Laden is already widely considered to have approved the bombing of two US embassies in Africa the year before (see August 7, 1998). Al Maktoum is known to love bird hunting, as do many other UAE royals (see 1995-2001). The US calls off an attack on bin Laden in 1999 because he is bird hunting with UAE royals at the time (see February 11, 1999). Al Maktoum hunts in Afghanistan several times in 1998 and 1999, but is only known to hunt with bin Laden once. He is so impressed by the Taliban that in 1999 he suspends all landing fees for Ariana Airlines, the Afghanistan national airline which has been effectively taken over by the Taliban and al-Qaeda by this time (see Mid-1996-October 2001). His father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, ruler of the UAE, also hunts in Afghanistan around this time, but there are no reports of him hunting with bin Laden. [Source: CBC]Intelligence reports foresee the presence of bin Laden at a desert hunting camp in Afghanistan for about a week. Information on his presence appears reliable, so preparations are made to target his location with cruise missiles. However, intelligence also puts an official aircraft of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and members of the royal family from that country in the same location. Bin Laden is hunting with the Emirati royals, as he did with leaders from the UAE and Saudi Arabia on other occasions (see 1995-2001). Local informants confirm exactly where bin Laden will be in the camp on February 11, and a strike is prepared. But policy makers are concerned that a strike might kill a prince or other senior officials, so the strike is called off. Bin Laden leaves the camp on February 12. A top UAE official at the time denies that high-level officials are there, but evidence subsequently confirms their presence. [9/11 Commission, 3/24/2004; Vanity Fair, 11/2004] Michael Scheuer, head of the CIA’s bin Laden unit at the time, will claim in 2004 that “the truth has not been fully told” about this incident. He will claim that the strike is cancelled because senior officials at the CIA, White House, and other agencies, decide to accept assurances from an unnamed Islamic country that it can acquire bin Laden from the Taliban. “US officials accepted these assurances despite the well-documented record of that country withholding help—indeed, it was a record of deceit and obstruction—regarding all issues pertaining to Bin Laden” in previous years. [Atlantic Monthly, 12/2004] This may be a reference to Saudi Arabia. In mid-1998, the CIA called off a plan to capture bin Laden in favor of an ultimately unfulfilled Saudi promise to bribe the Taliban to hand bin Laden over (see May 1998). Many in US intelligence will be resentful over this missed opportunity and blame a conflict of interest with the Emirati royals (see Shortly After February 11, 1999).

Prince Bandar, Saudi ambassador to the US since 1983, steps down and is replaced by Prince Turki al-Faisal. It is said that Prince Bandar had been suffering health problems and is not close to the new Saudi King Abdullah (see August 1, 2005). Prince Turki was Saudi intelligence minister from the late 1970s until about one week before 9/11 (see August 31, 2001). Then he served three years as Saudi ambassador to Britain. On the same day that she proposed creating a cabinet-level position devoted to ending poverty, Hillary Clinton and her husband reported earning more than $109 million over eight years in newly released tax data.

Hillary and Bill Clinton paid $33.8 million in federal taxes from 2000 through 2007. They listed $10.25 million in charitable contributions during that period.

The total income reported in that period was $109.2 million, with the most money — $51.9 million — coming from Bill Clinton’s speech income. Earnings from his two books — “My Life ” and “Giving” — totaled $29.6 million.

Hillary Clinton had $10.5 million in income from her book “Living History.” She donated earnings from her other book, “It Takes a Village,” to charity. Plus she earned about $1 million through her Senate salary and her husband earned a little over $1 million through his presidential pension.

They reported their after-tax earnings at $57.2 million.

“The Clintons have now made public thirty years of tax returns, a record matched by few people in public service. None of Hillary Clinton’s presidential opponents have revealed anything close to this amount of personal financial information,” the Clinton campaign said in a statement.

The campaign released tax returns from 2000 through 2006 and gave highlights from their 2007 return. The Clintons have asked for an extension for filing their 2007 tax returns, citing the dissolution of a blind trust last year.

Clinton had been under mounting pressure to release the tax returns, especially from rival Barack Obama, who posted his 2000 to 2006 returns on his campaign Web site last week.

Barack and Michelle Obama’s income was significantly less than the Clintons’. They earned close to $1 million in 2006, according to their returns.

The itemized earnings the Clinton campaign provided in its summary only added up to $94 million, leaving $15 million unaccounted for.

But that difference can probably be located in practically one source. Besides speeches and books, Bill Clinton’s biggest single business income is from his partnership with Yucaipa Global Opportunities Fund, a Los Angeles-based investment firm founded by longtime Clinton fundraiser Ron Burkle. Between 2003 and 2006, the returns show total Yucaipa partnership income of $12.5 million. The 2007 summary provided by the campaign lists $2.75 million in partnership income.

President Clinton also has been an adviser to InfoUSA, a data company whose chief executive, Vinod Gupta, has been a major donor to Democrats and gave at least $1 million to Bill Clinton’s presidential library in Arkansas. Clinton received $400,000 in payments from the company in 2006 and 2007, according to the documents.

The Clintons last made their returns public in 2000 when they reported an adjusted gross income of $416,039. Since then, the former president has embarked on a number of business ventures and has made millions from speaking engagements.

Clinton’s tax returns show that of the remaining presidential candidates, she is the one most able to access large amounts of personal money. She lent her campaign $5 million in late February and could contribute more if she finds herself falling far behind Obama’s proficient fundraising.

Neither Obama nor Republican Sen. John McCain have made their 2007 tax returns public, though both say they will this month.

Clinton said earlier Friday in Memphis, as she spoke in memory of Martin Luther King Jr., that she would appoint a cabinet-level position “fully devoted to ending poverty as we know it in America.”

Kate Obenshain, of the conservative Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute, told FOX News: “There is an irony of putting this out on the day that you announce a cabinet-level position for poverty czar.”

But she said Republicans likely wouldn’t criticize her just for making money.

Democratic strategist Kirsten Powers said the tax returns do not conflict at all with Clinton’s statements on poverty.

“I reject the idea that there’s some sort of conflict between people who make a lot of money actually caring about the poor,” she said.

This is what Dick Morris said: Her lifelong pattern of secrecy was once again evident. While publicly promoting transparency in government, she steadfastly refuses to release her personal income tax returns. That’s a clear tip-off that there’s something to hide. Recall that the Clintons selectively released tax returns in Arkansas, but refused to go back to 1980, when Hillary had her windfall in cattle futures. During the debate, Hillary suggested that she’d release the returns “soon,” but her staff quickly backtracked. She implied that she’s been too busy to deal with releasing the returns. Does she really think anyone believes that it will take more than simply making a copy of the return? She’s stalling and there’s a reason for that.
Most likely, the return will show how much Bill has been making from his partnership with the Sheik of Dubai and his other business ventures. Should the spouse of a presidential candidate be in business with a foreign leader who needs favors from the U.S. government? Definitely not. That’s why we’ll never see those returns.

Michael Scheuer, head of the CIA’s bin Laden unit, and some US counternarcotics officials are particularly intrigued by a pattern they see between the flight patterns of Bout’s airplanes to and from Afghanistan and the hunting vacations of some Persian Gulf royals. Many of the Persian Gulf elite are known to regularly go bird hunting in Afghanistan, sometimes meeting Taliban ruler Mullah Omar and/or Osama bin Laden during their hunting trips (see 1995-2001). US analysts notice that there is a surge of Bout-controlled flights to Afghanistan in February and March of each year, the same time many royal elite fly to Afghanistan on their private jets in time for the migration of thousands of houbara bustards through Afghanistan. Then, in early autumn, there is another surge of flights by both Bout’s planes and the royal jets when the bustards migrate through the country again. Officials at the CIA’s counternarcotics center suspect some of the royals are using the hunting flights as cover to export heroin. The Bout flights increase the suspicion, since he is a known drug trafficker as well as an arms dealer. Scheuer will later comment, “They were very interested on the counternarcotics side about the patterns between Bout’s flights and the bustard-hunting season.” British intelligence is interested in the same thing, and at one point they approach United Arab Emirates (UAE) officials for permission to sneak a team of agents aboard one of Bout’s flights to search for Afghan heroin. Julie Sirrs. [Source: Julie Sirrs]Julie Sirrs, a military analyst for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), travels to Afghanistan. Fluent in local languages and knowledgeable about the culture, she had made a previous undercover trip there in October 1997. She is surprised that the CIA was not interested in sending in agents after the failed missile attack on bin Laden in August 1998, so she returns at this time. Traveling undercover, she meets with Northern Alliance leader Ahmed Shah Massoud. She sees a terrorist training center in Taliban-controlled territory. Sirrs claims, “The Taliban’s brutal regime was being kept in power significantly by bin Laden’s money, plus the narcotics trade, while [Massoud’s] resistance was surviving on a shoestring. With even a little aid to the Afghan resistance, we could have pushed the Taliban out of power. But there was great reluctance by the State Department and the CIA to undertake that.” She partly blames the interest of the US government and the oil company Unocal to see the Taliban achieve political stability to enable a trans-Afghanistan pipeline (see May 1996) (see September 27, 1996). She claims, “Massoud told me he had proof that Unocal had provided money that helped the Taliban take Kabul.” She also states, “The State Department didn’t want to have anything to do with Afghan resistance, or even, politically, to reveal that there was any viable option to the Taliban.” After two weeks, she returns with a treasure trove of maps, photographs, and interviews. [ABC News, 2/18/2002; New York Observer, 3/11/2004] By interviewing captured al-Qaeda operatives, she learns that the official Afghanistan airline, Ariana Airlines, is being used to ferry weapons and drugs, and learns that bin Laden goes hunting with “rich Saudis and top Taliban officials” (see Mid-1996-October 2001) (see 1995-2001). [Los Angeles Times, 11/18/2001] When she returns from Afghanistan, her material is confiscated and she is accused of being a spy. Says one senior colleague, “She had gotten the proper clearances to go, and she came back with valuable information,” but high level officials “were so intent on getting rid of her, the last thing they wanted to pay attention to was any information she had.” She is cleared of wrongdoing, but her security clearance is pulled. She eventually quits the DIA in frustration in 1999. Bin Laden is already widely considered to have approved the bombing of two US embassies in Africa the year before (see August 7, 1998). Al Maktoum is known to love bird hunting, as do many other UAE royals (see 1995-2001). The US calls off an attack on bin Laden in 1999 because he is bird hunting with UAE royals at the time (see February 11, 1999). Al Maktoum hunts in Afghanistan several times in 1998 and 1999, but is only known to hunt with bin Laden once. He is so impressed by the Taliban that in 1999 he suspends all landing fees for Ariana Airlines, the Afghanistan national airline which has been effectively taken over by the Taliban and al-Qaeda by this time (see Mid-1996-October 2001). His father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, ruler of the UAE, also hunts in Afghanistan around this time, but there are no reports of him hunting with bin Laden. In 2007, his wealth will be estimated at $16 billion. [Source: CBC]Intelligence reports foresee the presence of bin Laden at a desert hunting camp in Afghanistan for about a week. Information on his presence appears reliable, so preparations are made to target his location with cruise missiles. However, intelligence also puts an official aircraft of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and members of the royal family from that country in the same location. Bin Laden is hunting with the Emirati royals, as he did with leaders from the UAE and Saudi Arabia on other occasions (see 1995-2001). Local informants confirm exactly where bin Laden will be in the camp on February 11, and a strike is prepared. But policy makers are concerned that a strike might kill a prince or other senior officials, so the strike is called off. Bin Laden leaves the camp on February 12. A top UAE official at the time denies that high-level officials are there, but evidence subsequently confirms their presence. [9/11 Commission, 3/24/2004; Vanity Fair, 11/2004] Michael Scheuer, head of the CIA’s bin Laden unit at the time, will claim in 2004 that “the truth has not been fully told” about this incident. He will claim that the strike is cancelled because senior officials at the CIA, White House, and other agencies, decide to accept assurances from an unnamed Islamic country that it can acquire bin Laden from the Taliban. “US officials accepted these assurances despite the well-documented record of that country withholding help—indeed, it was a record of deceit and obstruction—regarding all issues pertaining to Bin Laden” in previous years. [Atlantic Monthly, 12/2004] This may be a reference to Saudi Arabia. In mid-1998, the CIA called off a plan to capture bin Laden in favor of an ultimately unfulfilled Saudi promise to bribe the Taliban to hand bin Laden over (see May 1998). Many in US intelligence will be resentful over this missed opportunity and blame a conflict of interest with the Emirati royals (see Shortly After February 11, 1999).

The announcement from Senator Clinton’s presidential campaign that Mark Penn has resigned as chief strategist is not enough to assuage one of Mr. Penn’s top critics in the labor movement. The president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, James Hoffa, said through an aide tonight that the change is of little significance, since Mr. Penn will continue to advise and poll for Mrs. Clinton’s presidential bid.

“Demotion doesn’t answer General President Hoffa’s concerns. Mark Penn is still on her payroll and Burson-Marsteller’s payroll,” a spokeswoman for Mr. Hoffa, Leigh Strope, said. “Title demotion doesn’t indicate loss of influence.”

In a statement on Friday, Mr. Hoffa called for Mr. Penn’s ouster. “Someone like Mark Penn should not be dictating strategy, and possibly legislation, for a Democratic candidate for president,” the Teamster leader said.

The Teamsters have endorsed Mrs. Clinton’s rival for the Democratic nomination, Senator Obama of Illinois. While the recent criticism of Mr. Penn was triggered by a report in the Wall Street Journal that he met with Colombia’s ambassador to discuss strategy to promote the country’s free trade deal with America, the Teamsters’ issues with Mr. Penn go beyond the trade deal. They are also at odds over Burson-Marsteller’s work on behalf of Cintas Corp., which the Teamsters and another union, Unite Here, have been attempting to organize for years.

I think Hillary’s goose is cooked on this one.

Casualty of friendly fire, she can’t run for cover on this one.

Whether you classify this as a lack of competence, foresight, communication whatever…a mistake of this magnitude when everything in her campaign is at stake…you just can’t make up excuses and hope that it goes away.

Here you have a senior campaign strategist meeting with Colombians on a trade deal and Hillary knows nothing about it. Kind of shows her judgement about the people she hires. This is not like someone who didn’t know what he was doing. We are talking about negotiations with the Colombians. So this is good for Clinton? She didn’t distance herself from him,just gave him a demotion. Instead of 1 million dollars a month, he now only receives 500,000 per month. So you really think that this is good for Hillary ?

I am an American resident of Colombia. I have lived here for 13 years. I vote in U.S. elections, under the Uniformed And Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA). I found the above extremely disturbing and insulting to Colombia and Colombians. I read, on FoxNews.com a few days ago, that the Colombian government had paid Burson $300,000 to promote the Free Trade Agreement between Colombia and the USA. The same article said that to date, the Clinton campaign had paid Burton $10.8 million dollars. What is “lucrative”, about $300,000; compared to $10.8 million, so far, from the Clinton campaign?

Can Clinton prove her claim that “the Colombian government beats and intimidates union organizers”? I personally have been in the bank, several times, when union organizers came in to speak to the bank employees, while they worked.

This is like a football team losing game after game and blaming the cheerleaders. But Hillary is not the only one. Obama is famous for blaming his staff for all the ills of his campaign. Both candidates show they are unfit to be president simply because they do not seem to be able to accept blame for ANYTHING. They should each wear a t-shirt that says “The Buck Stops OVER THERE!”

The Clinton campaign is being accused of lying about the hospital story that Hillary Clinton has told to audiences on the campaign trail. Now Fox News is parsing the history of the event that ABC fully published on its Web site (VIDEO below). In that video, Bryan Holman is shown telling Hillary the story that she tells on the trail. The NY Times has published a report in which O’Bleness Hospital said they did not turn her away. But, that isn’t what Bryan Holman said in the first place. I have confirmed with Deputy Holman that he did not say O’Bleness denied Ms. Bachtel. It was another hospital that denied her. He is also clear that she wasn’t denied over a co payment as some have speculated. I will keep you updated here at NoQuarter as this story develops.

The thing you have to see is that this isn’t “THE HOSPITAL” in question. Bryan Holman said that after being denied, she went to another hospital.

As much as 30% of Obama’s primary, and caucus votes are Republicans trying to choose the weakest democratic candidate for McCain to run against. Why the GOP Loves Obama???????

Republicans this week are breathing a deep sigh of relief.

What was seen as a washout for them this coming November — with big losses expected in the House and Senate and a catastrophic loss of the White House — is now shaping up to be less ominous.

With the Democrats moving to pick Sen. Barack Obama as their nominee, the Republicans see a real opportunity to keep the Oval Office in GOP hands.

There is no question that the Republicans had viewed Hillary Clinton as the most formidable of the Democratic candidates.

During one of the primary debates, Obama suggested that the Republicans were “comfortable” attacking Hillary, suggesting they actually wanted her to be the nominee. Au contraire.

Republicans were attacking Mrs. Clinton because they believed she would be the nominee. They could hardly foresee Obama’s rise.

Indeed, she was the Democratic front-runner and hence the focus of their attacks. Now, Obama is discovering that he’s the focus of Republican scrutiny, with John McCain highlighting Obama’s accommodationist views with tyrants.

The glee seen in GOP eyes this week can be chalked up to the clearly visible fault lines shaping up for the November election, a seismic battle between McCain and Obama.

There are many reasons the GOP would rather face Obama. Here are some of the best reasons:

Obama is the risky liberal. Every time the Democrats run a liberal like Obama, who the National Journal reports has a 100 percent liberal voting record, they lose.

Remember President McGovern, President Dukakis, President Kerry? Mrs. Clinton, however, has been quite clever in her record and rhetoric to come across as more moderate. In New York state she consistently won hardcore Republican districts in her two Senate races.

A McCain insider told me this week that Obama’s support — for example, for driver’s licenses for illegals — is worth at least “five percentage points in the election.” Mrs. Clinton was smart enough to back away from that hot-button issue.

Obama energizes Democratic voters. It’s been talked about quite a bit that Obama is a charismatic man who energizes young voters. But young voters notoriously don’t vote.

Remember all the hoopla in the last election with MTV and its “Vote or Die” campaign to bring out antiwar young voters for President Kerry?

Indeed, Obama, as the first African-American candidate of a major party, will energize black voters. But don’t the Democrats know that black voters vote as a bloc for them already?

What does Obama actually bring to the table for Democrats? It’s not clear. Mrs. Clinton, as her longtime critic Dick Morris likes to point out, would have most assuredly energized women voters, especially millions of single moms that have never voted before.

Obama’s Latino problem. Clearly Latino or Hispanic voters are shaping up to be the key swing vote in this election, as they have been in recent elections. Some political pundits say George Bush’s come-from-behind win in 2004 was due to the solid 40 percent of Hispanics who voted for him, tipping the election in his favor.

This year was shaping up to be a terrible year for the GOP vis-à-vis Hispanic voters. But in primary after primary, Obama has had great difficulty winning over Latino voters.

Even in Illinois, where he beat Hillary to 2 to 1 in the primary, he only captured 52 percent of his home state’s Hispanic vote.

There are a variety of explanations for Obama’s Latino problem, including the belief there is an ethnic rivalry between Hispanics and blacks. Hispanics would like to see a Latino president in the White House, so the theory goes.

Mrs. Clinton, on the other hand, has done extremely well among Latino voters, perhaps owing to her husband’s likeability among these voters.

The recent primaries show Obama improving with Hispanic voters. Republicans, however, believe the problem with this key group will persist.

And then there is John McCain, who is the one Republican who is very well liked by Latino voters. He’s also a strong leader, which Hispanics respect. He’s pro-immigrant. As we all know, McCain joined Ted Kennedy in backing the recent immigration bill.

There’s little doubt Hillary could keep the Democratic stranglehold on Latino voters. Obama won’t.

Obama’s naiveté. Don’t forget, America is still in a war on terror. It is doubtful America will be tempted to go for an untested leader, no matter how charismatic he may be.

Some have drawn the comparison between Obama and JFK’s election win in 1960 during the height of the Cold War. But the Kennedy-Obama comparison is a weak one. For starters, John Kennedy was a war hero when he was elected president. Obama can make no such claim. Kennedy also had far more Washington experience in Congress and the Senate than Obama.

JFK also had his well-known father Joe at his side. And Democrats like to forget this, but Kennedy outflanked Nixon on defense issues, arguing that Nixon was too soft on communism. Obama’s dovish complaints about the Bush administration being too hawkish on terror won’t resonate with middle-of-the-road voters.

With good reason, the GOP is feeling better, finding its second wind as it coalesces around John McCain.

Despite some differences with the maverick senator, the Republican base will turn out for him. His $12 million fundraising haul for January is just one sign of that.

But there are many other reasons the GOP is more comfortable with Hillary out of the picture and Obama as the nominee.

First, Obama will not be able to lay claim to the good economic times of the 1990s that Bill Clinton presided over, as Hillary can. And Obama will be a nightmare for Democrats with swing voters in key states. Take for example the highly influential Cuban-American vote that Bill Clinton won in 1992 and 1996 — and was the key reason George Bush beat Al Gore.

The Cuban vote has been moving into the Democratic column but they will not go for Obama because he has clearly stated he will open up relations with Castro.

Sen. Clinton’s announced Cuba policies take a hard line, which resonates with these voters. And then there are the key Jewish communities in swing states like Florida and Ohio that are already deeply worried about electing Obama to the presidency.

Obama has talked openly about sitting down — without any preconditions — with Iran’s diabolical leader Ahmadinejad, who just this week referred to Israel as “bacteria” and has said in the past that the Jewish state is a “disgraceful blot” that should be “wiped off the map.”

With the McCain campaign blanketing key markets with TV ads featuring “independent Democrat” Sen. Joseph Lieberman, Obama will be in deep trouble.

The Democrats haven’t completely abandoned Hillary. But it sure looks that way.

There’s an oft-quoted saying that the Democrats “fall in love and Republicans fall in line.”

After this November, we may have to change that to “Democrats often like to run off the side of a cliff and the Republicans love to watch them.”

Maybe I just want to know that if he gets the presidency, he will get it honestly – if this is general knowledge, and he overcomes it. There’s a big mystery at the heart of Barack Obama’s Dreams For My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance. What was Barack Obama doing seeking out Marxist professors in college? Why did Obama choose a Communist Party USA member as his socio- political counselor in high school? Why was he spending his time studying neocolonialism and the writings of Frantz Fanon, the pro-violence author of “the Communist Manifesto of neocolonialsm”, in college? Why did he take time out from his studies at Columbia to attend socialist conferences at Cooper Union?

And there is more mystery in the book. Why does Obama consider working in a consulting house for international business like being “a spy behind enemy lines?” Why does he repeatedly find it so hard to explain his political views to others? Why was he driven to become a left-aligned political organizer? It’s a question Obama again and again can’t seem to answer to the satisfaction of the interlocutors in his own memoir.

If there is a mystery at the heart of Barack Obama’s Dreams For My Father, one thing is not left a mystery, the fact that Barack Obama organized his life on the ideals given to him by his Kenyan father. Obama tells us, “All of my life, I carried a single image of my father, one that I .. tried to take as my own.” (p. 220) And what was that image? It was “the father of my dreams, the man in my mother’s stories, full of high-blown ideals ..” (p. 278) What is more, Obama tells us that, “It was into my father’s image .. that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself.” And also that, “I did feel that there was something to prove .. to my father” in his efforts at political organizing. (p. 230)

So we know that his father’s ideals were a driving force in his life, but the one thing that Obama does not give us are the contents of those ideals. The closest he comes is when he tells us that his father lost his position in the government when he came into conflict with Jomo Kenyatte, the President of Kenya sometime in the mid 1960s; when he tells us that his father was imprisoned for his political views by the government just prior to the end of colonial rule; and when he tells us that the attributes of W. E. B. DuBois, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, and Nelson Mandela were the ones he associated with his father and also the ones that he sought to instill in himself. (p. 220) This last group is a hodge podge, perhaps concealing as much as it reveals, in that it contains a socialist black nationalist, a Muslim black nationalist, a civil rights leader, and (at the time indicated in the memoir) an imprisoned armed revolutionary.

A bit of research at the library reveals the answers about Barack Obama’s father and his father’s convictions which Obama withholds from his readers. A first hint comes from authors E. S. Atieno Odhiambo and David William Cohen in their book The Risks of Knowledge (Ohio U. Press, 2004). On page 182 of their book they describe how Barack Obama’s father, a Harvard trained economist, attacked the economic proposals of pro-Western ‘third way” leader Tom Mboya from the socialist left, siding with communist-allied leader Oginga Odinga, in a paper Barack Obama’s father worte for the East Africa Journal. As Odhiambo and Cohen write, “The debates [over economic policy] pitted .. Mboya against .. Oginga Odinga and radical economists Dharam Ghai and Barrack Obama, who critiqued the document for being neither African nor socialist enough.”

I have a copy of Barack Obama’s paper here in my hand, obtained from the stacks at UCLA (see the picture above). The paper is as describe by Odhiambo and Cohen, a cutting attack from the left on Tom Mboya’s historically important policy paper “African Socialism and Its Applicability to Planning in Kenya.” The author is given as “Barak H. Obama” and his paper is titled “Problems Facing Our Socialism”, published July, 1965 in the East African Journal, pp. 26-33.

Obama stakes out the following positions in his attacks on the white paper produced by Mboya’s Ministry of Economic Planning and Development:

1. Obama advocated the communal ownership of land and the forced confiscation of privately controlled land, as part of a forced “development plan”, an important element of his attack on the government’s advocacy of private ownership, land titles, and property registration. (p. 29)

2. Obama advocated the nationalization of “European” and “Asian” owned enterprises, including hotels, with the control of these operations handed over to the “indigenous” black population. (pp. 32 -33)

3. Obama advocated dramatically increasing taxation on “the rich” even up to the 100% level, arguing that, “there is no limit to taxation if the benefits derived from public services by society measure up to the cost in taxation which they have to pay” (p. 30) and that, “Theoretically, there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100% of income so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed.” (p. 31)

4. Obama contrasts the ill-defined and weak-tea notion of “African Socialism” negatively with the well-defined ideology of “scientific socialism”, i.e. communism. Obama views “African Socialism” pioneers like Nkrumah, Nyerere, and Toure as having diverted only “a little” from the capitalist system. (p. 26)

5. Obama advocates an “active” rather than a “passive” program to achieve a classless society through the removal of economic disparities between black Africans and Asian and Europeans. (p. 28) “While we welcome the idea of a prevention [of class problems], we should try to cure what has slipped in .. we .. need to eliminate power structures that have been built through excessive accumulation so that not only a few individuals shall control a vast magnitude of resources as is the case now .. so long as we maintain free enterprise one cannot deny that some will accumulate more than others .. ” (pp. 29-30)

6. Obama advocates price controls on hotels and the tourist industry, so that the middle class and not only the rich can afford to come to Kenya as tourists. (p. 33)

7. Obama advocates government owned and operated “model farms” as a means of teaching modern farming techniques to farmers. (p. 33)

8. Obama strongly supports the governments assertion of a “non-aligned” status in the contest between Western nations and communist nations aligned with the Soviet Union and China. (p. 26)

So what does all this tell us about Barack Obama, the father, and how does it help us fill in the gaps and decipher Barack Obama’s Dreams For My Father? We know from Obama’s memoir that his father is an “uncompromising” man whose ideals and principles gets him in trouble with the “big man” who ran Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta, leading to a dramatic scene in which Kenyatta personally confronts Obama the father and in one fell swoop destroys not only his government career but ultimately his life. Working with Obama’s book alone it is hard to know what is going on. We get only an inkling when Obama quotes his “Granny” (one of Obama the elder’s wives) as saying the following, “I would tell him he was too stubborn in his dealings with the government. He would talk to me of his principle .. ” (p. 424)

Now if we fill in the missing information we have now learned about Barack Obama the elder — that he held uncompromising socialist and anti-Western views in line with Kenyatta’s principle political rival Oginga Odinga — we can understand why he had conflicts of “principle” with Kenyatta and government. And the timeline begins to make sense. TIME magazine reports the open conflict between the anti-communist, pro-Western Kenyatta and the communist-allied, anti-Western Odinga in a story from June, 1965, a story in which Odinga declares “communism is like food to me.” By 1966 Odinga was out of the government. In Obama’s Dream For My Father these political events and their consequences for Barack Obama the elder are described in the voice of his sister Auma:

“The Old Man [Obama], he left the American company to work in the government, for the Ministry of Tourism. He may have had political ambitions, and at first he was doing well in the government. But by 1966 or 1967, the divisions in Kenya had become more serious. President Kenyatta was from the largest tribe, the Kikuyus .. The vice-president, Odinga, was a Luo [as was Obama], and he said the government was becoming corrupt. That, instead of serving those who had fought for independence, Kenyan politicians had take the place of white colonials, buying businesses and land that should be redistributed to the people. Odinga tried to start his own party, but was placed under house arrest as a Communist. Another popular Luo minister, Tom M’boya, was killed by a Kikuyu gunman. Luos began to protest in the streets, and the government police cracked down ..

Most of the Old Man’s friends just kept quiet and learned to live with the situation. But the Old Man began to speak up. He would tell people that tribalism was going to ruin the country and that unqualified men were taking the best jobs. His friends tried to warn him about saying such things in public, but he didn’t care. He always thought he know what was best, you see. When he was passed up for a promotion, he complained loudly. ‘How can you be my senior,’ he would say to one of the ministers, ‘and yet I am teaching you how to do your job properly?’ Word got back to Kenyatta that the Old Man was a troublemaker, and he was called in to see the president .. Kenyatta said to the Old Man that, because he could not keep his mouth shut, he would not work again until he had no shoes on his feet.

I don’t know how much of these details are true. But I know that with the president as an enemy things became very bad for the Old Man. He was banished from the government — blacklisted. None of the ministries would give him work. When he went to foreign companies to look for a post, the companies were warned not to hire him .. Finally, he had to accept a small job with the Water Department.”

There are a couple of false notes in this account. To begin with, Barack Obama the father didn’t “begin” to speak up. Obama was challenging the policies of Kenyatta’s government from the left in the most prestigious forum possible, the East Africa Journal, at exactly the same moment when Vice President Odinga was challenging the Kenyatta government from the left. What is more, Obama did so in openly arrogant and condescending fashion, almost as if saying to Kenyatta and his government, ‘How can you [be in charge of the economy], when I am teaching you how to do your job properly?” The last lines of Obama’s EAJ paper capture the tone of the whole,

“Despite my remarks, it is laudable that the government came out with the paper. But this is not to deny that fact that it could have been a better paper if the government were to look into priorities and see them clearly within their context so that their implementation could have had a basis on which to rely. Maybe it is better to have something perfunctorily done than none at all!”

The survey showed the extended Democratic primary campaign creating divisions among supporters of Obama and rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and suggests a tight race for the presidency in November no matter which Democrat becomes the nominee.

McCain is benefiting from a bounce since he clinched the GOP nomination a month ago. The four-term Arizona senator has moved up in matchups with each of the Democratic candidates, particularly Obama.

An AP-Ipsos poll taken in late February had Obama leading McCain 51-41 percent.

Saw your piece today featuring Clinton’s new ad with people saying they were insulted by Obama’s comments. Maybe you could be more balance and also include the letter from the person who was actually at the fundrasier these comments were made at. Maybe you can also include the letters from his site that say they were not insulted, but felt he was speaking directly to them. Typical Fox journalist.
