Important New Dynamic for Obama in Tuesday’s Results
For the first time since mid-February, Barack Obama closed strongly in heavily contested primaries Tuesday and out-distanced Hillary Clinton in ways that defied expectations.
Obama’s camp felt internally that it would finish well in Indiana and North Carolina and the evidence suggests it did.
Obama’s pre-primary polling average in North Carolina showed an 8-point average lead for Obama. It appears he out-performed that average by a full 4 points.
Similarly, in Indiana Obama trailed Clinton on average by roughly 6 points. It appears he will outperform that average by 4 or 5 points.
This is not an outcome either campaign expected.
Obama’s campaign did not expect to win Indiana or fight Clinton to something close to a tie. The Obama camp also internally wondered if the outcome in North Carolina could be a low single-digit win or a margin of, at most, 10 points.
In both categories, Obama bested his own expectations.
This matters in the larger context of how the party will view Obama’s overall electability.
By outperforming his polling average in both states, Obama can credibly argue his out-organized Clinton and his overall message resonated even as he spent, in the words of campaign manager David Plouffe, “two weeks on the griddle.”
One of the key questions is whether Obama won the “day of” primary, meaning that he carried the votes cast on Election Day. It’s clear Obama crushed Clinton in early votes cast in both states. A good portion of these votes where cast before the controversy over the Rev. Jeremiah Wright took hold a second time in the campaign and before Clinton engaged Obama in a debate over her proposal for a federal gasoline tax holiday.
This was a key difference in the Clinton and Obama strategies heading into these primaries. Obama’s camp worked overtime to solicit support in early voting. Clinton made virtually no effort on this front as her campaign, by necessity, focused resources solely on Pennsylvania to ensure the biggest victory possible.
This strategic difference was fueled in part by the monetary advantage Obama’s long-enjoyed in recent months.
That advantage did not translate into Obama over-performing his polling average in Texas, Ohio or Pennsylvania. It appears it very much did in Indiana and North Carolina and may bring Obama closer than ever before to closing down the long-running contest for the Democratic nomination.

Please read this. Obama has made a new logo for his campaign. Go and look at it. It is the Muslim flag but in disguise. It has the crescent and where the star goes, Obama has a remnant of the red and white part of the flag. He now has this on his signs and if you go to BarackObama.com it is above the family picture of Obama and Michelle. I believe the arguement with Rev Wright was all a farce and Obama showed rev Wright his loyalty by having this symbol from the Muslim Flag. Remember the memorial in Penn. that the families don’t want because it looks like the Muslim flag, well this does too. Please go look at it.
question for discussion on the election, and the total from lake county,
I’m concerned about obama way of thinking, Remember when Don Imus made the joke comment about The Girls basketball, Obama was asked if he would go back on Don Imus show and he stated That I would Not be part of anyone that makes racist remarks, I’ve two beautiful african american girls, I would not want them subjected to that type of racist remarks, But Its Ok, for Obama when the first comment was made about Wright, We had the Rev sharpton on the bullhorn gettin Don Imus Fired, but We don’t see Rev sharpton on the bull horn with Wright, I feel if You in a church for 20 years and subjected to that type of preaching it can rub off on You like it did In Pa, when Obama stated Pity on the American People. How is this going to reflect his Presedency.
Just admit straight,he won, don’t try to show that most votes were cast before Rev Wrights controversy and gasoline tax cut proposal, that a lie, he just won because Americans know want they want and that is CHANGE.
What no comments yet? big win in NC and a narrow loss in IN. Obama will be the nominee.
yea he won big getting 91% of black votes wow! What a loser you call whites racists? lol k whatever you wright hugging blacks.
Hillary, dear, it’s time to go home!
You make an error in the NC numbers. He got 56 percent of the vote to Clinton’s 42. That’s six points above his expectation, not four.
Attention all Hillary supporters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please send a thank you card to our friend Rush Limbaugh for disillusioning us into believing that Senator Clinton was the formidable winner in those states that allow Republicans the right to vote in Democratic primaries.
Don’t believe the general election projections that some of her supporters are promoting, many Republicans voted for Hillary in primaries in Texas, Indiana and several other states.
Barack Obama will win the Democratic nomination and subsequently the general election for President of the United States.
This Tarheel sure is now bitter as Obama said earlier, I think maybe will go get my gun and go hunting while clinging to it. Sunday I will be able to cling to my Church until I get over all this bitter from Obama winning North Carolina. Now my only hope is that North Carolina goes Republican once again come November. The last time it went democrat was for yes you know..Carter. Obama is so far left he makes Carter look good! Thanks Major for keeping us imformed.
Why do you make this sound like Obama blew Clinton out of the water? He was expected to win in NC. He was ahead of Clinton in IN by 10 points until the last few days so she closed that gap and passed him up to win. If Clinton quits and gives it to Obama he will never get my vote even if she’s is VP. I will either not vote or write in her name. Obama will never get the working class white vote. He’s to “above” us to understand our problems. Maybe that’s why he is getting all the black vote, they think he understands them. I’d rather it was that than they are just voting for him because of his color. But like that lady on “The View” said she was for Obama cause he looked like her. Good reason. Ignore the policies, the mess we are in, who has experience to help us out of this mess. Forget what is best for this country as long as you vote for someone who looks like you.
Hillary is looking more like Eight Belles, the filly she endorsed all the time. She has run a close race, but she will not win.
The only question is whether she and her supporters will leave gracefully, or leave with a similar catastrophic failure tearing at the causes she cares for. A painless, high class exit leaves her with many options. But a burn the bridges knock down drag out fight will severely damage her as a future Senator.
It is about a time for Hillary Clinton to admit her defeat in the democratic race. It has been (for some time already) practically a statistical impossibility that she would receive majority of the popular vote or pledged delegates. What is she doing? Trying to win over the election by including the votes of Florida and Michigan?
I do not know about Florida, but… I have red that people in Michigan did not even have a chance to vote for Obama, because Obama’s name was not in the list of canditates!
This would not be democracy people! By saying that Michigan votes should be included Clinton is playing dirty (old school) politcs!
Dear Fox News
I have been watch Fox News Channel for months now and have been examing how reporters are handling the election coverage and giving viewers their opinions and views. I am a white male in my forties and definitely want change in our country. I am tired of the war in Iraq which was totally unnecessary to begin with. We destroyed a country. Did we capture Osadum Bin Laden? NO!
Did we change the people of Iraq? no. Did we help these people. no. Our economy is awful. the government lies when they say job market is improving. It is not. The cost of living in this country is outrageous. Our health plan needs correcting. I have examined all the current candidates, I do not want McCain in the White House. That spells more war. Despite Hillary Clinton’s charge and courageous out pouring for hope for people..I had enough with the Clintons. We need a new voice regardless of the color of ones skin. Yet the more your news station and others talk, more I feel your voice is encouraging people to select the right person. This is wrong. Im voting for Obama. why? not because he is black, race never plays a picture or problem with me. What is wrong with America? It seems after looking at why Obama lost or why Hillary won is not over issues..it is over race! This is disgraceful! I was born in a time when Martin L. King spoke of unity, that we should look at the performance of a person not judge a person by his/her color..yet, when Ms. Clinton is analyzed-alot of her support is middle to low-income blue collar workers. Be serious for one second here. Her Husband was not a great President, i didnt think he did much in his 8 years. He might have been great with his speeches but nothing was solved. What makes people think Hillary is going to change everything around for the best? I have nothing against her being a woman running. I will admit she is very outspoken and driven. She is also a crafty politican.
When i look at Obama, i see a very bright young man with a lovely wife, who speaks with intelligence and termination. He might be new but he really cares about America. Yet your station and others harps on Rev. Wright. who cares about the Rev. Wright, Obama isnt a racist, this isnt Rev. Al Sharpton running; yet he is right about demonistrating against police brutality-the police arent trainned and are uneducated; or you bring up the blue collar male issue..well, that sadness me. Now I know why other countries look down upon America with dislike. There is too much hatred and bigotry. You mean to tell me that if superstar Derek Jeter, elegant and handsome, hero ball player, after baseball, were to run for office, no one would want him because of the color of his skin-and he’s half white/black..Even if he was smart intelligent, cared about the welfare of the american people? the skin color is all that matters? The same can be said even for Tiger Woods. Has this country which stands for freedom and democracy and respect for all, has become a racist country..divided? Why does the blue collar male vote matter so much. If they want to be racist, with a hitler driven mindset, to hell with them. are they America’s symbol..oh because they are uneducated and poor…or just arrogant and yes white trash. Are they the voice of America?
Or are you and the fox news planting seeds to harp on Obama not on issues of importance-like economy etc..but on race or some reverened’s foolish disturbing views…these views dont speak for Obama. It sounds like your political station already picked the winner and it is Mrs. Clinton- I think I have had enough of this so called tough lady or phony. She talks the talk but can she walk the walk?
Obama essentially closed it out today. Victory is at hand for Obama and the bottom line is that it is simply out of reach now for Hilary. It is time for her to graciously step down and do her level best to unify the party under the Obama flag.
Like eight years of George Bush, MCCAIN is more poison for the country. Tax cuts for the wealthy, jack squat for the average american and endless war mongering. It is time for the american public to take back the power, keep the insiders out of the white house and put the power in the hands of the people. Obama will be a representative of all the people. McCain represents wealthy bankers and far right nuts.
A win in Indiana for Senator Clinton is huge, considering it is Obama’s backyard and full of his cronies. There is already talk on the internet blogs that some of the Indiana vote was cooked up in favor of boosting Obama ,in Indiana to narrow Clinton’s lead. Lake County will most likely be fully investigated. Hillary’s supporters are already out in force this morning, stating if Obama is the nominee they will vote McCain. Good News for Republicans - Obama can not win in a general election. The only losers in the race last night, was the Democratic Party. Honestly, how can the DNC nominate a candidate by shutting out two of the states? Obama may steal the nomination, but McCain will win the Presidency. Obama can not win without Hillary’s supporters.
Thanks Fox! You have been so fair in your reporting. Thanks CNN. You put Barack over to top with your unfair reporting and unfair debates, you and NBC. I used to be your greatest fan. No longer. I see your reporting for what it is…manipulative. I was sad when Soledad and Miles left the morning show. I now believe she’s a racist, just like Obama and Michelle. I wanted a black president. I thought it would heal this country. I thought it would show black people that white people love them too. But, I read the Trinity website. Your reporters read the Trinity Church website, just like I did. You knew the church was a “black” church. You knew the views of Wright. So did OBAMA. How dare he and you insult our intelligence. I will never vote for a democrat again. I am appalled by their leadership. It’s just like the far right has been saying all along. They are too far left for me. I will not support a presidential candidate who would not stand up to their preacher, would not stand up for Michigan or Florida. Will he stand up for me, for America? Not if Michelle or his preacher have anything to say about it.
Well considering AGAIN! the voter fraud that took place. mainly in Lake county, IN for Obama, I hope someone starts to do more investigating into this. Obama should also be brought up on charges for inciting riots! Now blacks will burn down cities if he does not get the nomination!
Obamas new slogan –A vote for me is a vote for fraud !!!!
I have been a democrat for over 40 years and this is the first time in my adult life that I can truely say I am ashamed of my party. I can no longer belong to a party whos members cast their votes based on the color of a mans’ skin rather than that persons ability to lead and unify our troubled land. Barack Obama has without a doubt, believe it or not, divided this country in a way that no other candidate ever has and I see only more problems in our future because of it. This is in no way a victory for racial progress but instead an exclamation point following the words, Who are really the racists in this country? God Bless America, God save America….My vote will be for McCain
Early this am I watched a story out of MN on MSNBC regarding people getting their power shut off because they could not pay the bill. Being MSNBC of course, it is the Republicans fault due to the cost of energy and having no energy plan.
When as Americans are we going to play offense instead of defense when it comes to energy. We cannot have a strong economy with most of our energy coming from outside our borders. I agree with alternatives, but the time and cost involved will sink us futher into an energy crisis.
The dems are being run by way far left loons who HAVE put us in this current state. The repubs have been bullied for 20 years by these far left loons and are too chicken to play offense. For crying out loud, China is drilling for oil in our back yard! Let’s all agree that going forward with nuclear power and drilling for oil in AK and other areas of the US will drop the oil price with the mention of doing such things. I’m tired of San Fran, Chicago, Seattle, etc., runnnig our country.
Well, I believe a very important fact has been confirmed last night and should put the idea of black racism in America to rest once and for all. Depsite Reverand Wright’s racist comments throughout the media, despite Obama hanging around a cast of racist characters for 20 years and then making an effort to tell America that these racists had no influence in his life…the blacks came out in full force and voted for Obama with 91% of their votes.
I said it once and I will say it again, in theory, Obama could lynch his own children on national television, Obama could share an office with Hitler and Stalin, but the blacks would still vote for Obama no matter what at a rate of 91% or higher because he is part black. Why, because blacks in the USA are the most racist group within the United States and they can argue all they want to the contrary but the argument is futile.
Blacks in the USA do not want “equality”. Blacks want to be “superior” to all other racial groups in the USA and they will not ever shut up until they are……and the policies in the USA such as affirmative action have already granted blacks superiority in the system of Governmental regulation.
Not all blacks fit this profile because 9% didn’t vote for Obama, however, 91% of the blacks can be profiled this way.
Further, this is not intended to be a racist post in any shape, fashion or form.
It was the 300,000 + early votes the won it for Obama. The votes were cast before the truth came out about him That’s what they do. get alot people to vote early after one of his pump sunshine up everyones a** speaches so there is not chance for them to change thier votes when they really figure him out.
New dynamic for Obama…McCain will “crush you” come November!
92% of the African Americans voted for Obama in NC Democrat’s primary. How many percents of the rest voted for him? The answer is 37%. No one can dispute that race is a major factor in this election. The following are some interesting observations:
1. If equal percents voted on issues, then 84% (92%-8%) of African American and 26% (63%-37%) non-white voters were racially biased.
2. Clinton would have to get 46% of blacks or 75% of non-blacks in order to tie Obama. What a steep road to climb for poor Hillary!
Clinton is a die hard. She will not go down without a fight. But….she is waisting everyone’s time and money. She is ruthless and will do and say anything just to get a vote. She tries to make people believe that she really cares about them and our country, and yet, she is just in it for herself. If she really believed in what she says, she would be doing better in the race. She does what is expedient. She is hard headed and will never give up until someone else makes it happen….the superdelegates! That’s what she is counting on. If that happens, it will be a disaster for the democratic party. She could do what is best for the party, but she doesn’t really care about what’s best for the party….only what she wants for herself!
Good day Major. Tell me please why everyone is categorizing Obama’s win in North Carolina as surprising and such a major victory. Consider the following:
Total vote = 1,548,615
Obama count = 890,695
Hillary count = 657,920
Total black vote = 526,529 (34%)
Obama’s back vote count = 484,406 (92%)
Obama’s black vote = 54% of his total count
I repeat, tell me what is so surprising about North Carolina!
Everyone knew that Obama would win North Carolina because of the black vote so it isnt news to most people. but if 91 percent of black voters are going to vote for Obama then white voters should vote for Hillary 91 percent. Obama says he is for uniting people together it seems to me he is dividing people instead of uniting . i am a retired military spouse never thought about race before i always judged people by their works not by color of skin but this election has made me think twice about how i feel. i dont think Obama should be judged by Rev Wright he can not control what a pastor said but he should have admitted he had heard him say those things in church instead of making american people feel stupid. i dont go to church regular but i sure know what my pastor believes in so do all other people.
This strategic difference was fueled in part by the monetary advantage Obama’s long-enjoyed in recent months.
WHERE DOES THIS INFLUX OF MONEY REALLY COME FROM?
THIS DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS SPLIT DOWN THE MIDDLE BECAUSE
THE BILLIONAIRES LIKE GEORGE SOROS, WHO HATES AMERICA
AND WHO IS ANTI-ISRAEL NEEDS A WEAK LEADER, SO HE AND HIS
GANG OF 18 CAN CONTROL THEIR NAIVE PRESIDENT BARACK
OBAMA, IF HE IS ELECTED.
AND THEY HAVE USED THE RACE CARD TO GET UP TO 97% OF AFRICAN AMERICANS TO SUPPORT BARACK OBAMA, NOT BECAUSE HE HAS SOLUTIONS, NOT BECAUSE HE HAS SOME GREAT VISIONS BUT BECAUSE HE IS BLACK.
OBAMA, UTTERS ABSTRACT WORDS LIKE “HOPE” “CHANGE YOU CAN COUNT ON”
AND THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT, ALL THAT HIS FOLLOWERS HAVE TO DO IS FILL IN THE MISSING BLANK, WITH THINGS THEY DESIRE AND THE COUPLING IS COMPLETED AND THEN THEY PROCLAIM OBAMA AS THE NEW BLACK MESSIAH
MESSIAH (Any expected deliverer) OBAMA MESSAGE OF DELIVERANCE AS IN:
“CHANGE COMES FROM THE BOTTOM UP NOT FROM THE TOP DOWN”
WELL FOLLOWERS YOU PROBABLY KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS,
YOU HAVE TO PULL YOURSELVES UP BY YOUR OWN BOOT STRAPS hahahahaha
WHAT A RUSE!
this morning from the Obama camp, let me post the letter that David Plouffe sent out late last night to the superdelegates (why this is not newsworthy is a little puzzling to me):
“There are only six contests remaining in the Democratic primary
calendar and only 217 pledged delegates left to be awarded. Only 7
percent of the pledged delegates remain on the table. There are 260
remaining undeclared superdelegates, for a total of 477 delegates left
to be awarded.
With North Carolina and Indiana complete,
Barack Obama only needs 172 total delegates to capture the Democratic
nomination. This is only 36% of the total remaining delegates.
Conversely,
Senator Clinton needs 326 delegates to reach the Democratic nomination,
which represents a startling 68% of the remaining delegates.
With
the Clinton path to the nomination getting even narrower, we expect new
and wildly creative scenarios to emerge in the coming days. While those
scenarios may be entertaining, they are not legitimate and will not be
considered legitimate by this campaign or its millions of supporters,
volunteers, and donors.
We believe it is exceedingly unlikely
Senator Clinton will overtake our lead in the popular vote and in fact
lost ground on that measure last night. However, the popular vote is a
deeply flawed and illegitimate metric for deciding the nominee – since
each campaign based their strategy on the acquisition of delegates.
More importantly, the rules of the nomination are predicated on
delegates, not popular vote.
Just as the Presidential election
in November will be decided by the electoral college, not popular vote,
the Democratic nomination is decided by delegates.
If we
believed the popular vote was somehow the key measurement, we would
have campaigned much more intensively in our home state of Illinois and
in all the other populous states, in the pursuit of larger raw vote
totals. But it is not the key measurement. We played by the rules, set
by you, the DNC members, and campaigned as hard as we could, in as many
places as we could, to acquire delegates. Essentially, the popular vote
is not much better as a metric than basing the nominee on which
candidate raised more money, has more volunteers, contacted more
voters, or is taller.
The Clinton campaign was very clear
about their own strategy until the numbers become too ominous for them.
They were like a broken record , repeating ad nauseum that this
nomination race is about delegates. Now, the word delegate has
disappeared from their vocabulary, in an attempt to change the rules
and create an alternative reality.
We want to be clear – we
believe that the winner of a majority of pledged delegates will and
should be the nominee of our party. And we estimate that after the
Oregon and Kentucky primaries on May 20, we will have won a majority of
the overall pledged delegates According to a recent news report, by
even their most optimistic estimates the Clinton Campaign expects to
trail by more than 100 pledged delegates and will then ask the
superdelegates to overturn the will of the voters.
But of
course superdelegates are free to and have been utilizing their own
criteria for deciding who our nominee should be. Many are deciding on
the basis of electability, a favorite Clinton refrain. And if you look
at the numbers, during a period where the Clinton campaign has been
making an increasingly strident pitch on electability, it is clear
their argument is failing miserably with superdelegates.
Since
February 5, the Obama campaign has netted 107 superdelegates, and the
Clinton campaign only 21. Since the Pennsylvania primary, much of it
during the challenging Rev. Wright period, we have netted 24 and the
Clinton campaign 17.
At some point – we would argue that time
is now – this ceases to be a theoretical exercise about how
superdelegates view electability. The reality of the preferences in the
last several weeks offer a clear guide of how strongly superdelegates
feel Senator Obama will perform in November, both in building a winning
campaign for the presidency as well as providing the best electoral
climate across the country for all Democratic candidates.
It
is important to note that Senator Obama leads Senator Clinton in
superdelegate endorsements among Governors, United States Senators and
members of the House of Representatives. These elected officials all
have a keen sense for who our strongest nominee will be in November.
It is only among DNC members where Senator Clinton holds a lead, which has been rapidly dwindling.
As
we head into the final days of the campaign, we just wanted to be clear
with you as a party leader, who will be instrumental in making the
final decision of who our nominee will be, how we view the race at this
point.
Senator Obama, our campaign and our supporters believe
pledged delegates is the most legitimate metric for determining how
this race has unfolded. It is simply the ratification of the DNC rules
– your rules – which we built this campaign and our strategy around
“A good portion of these votes where cast before the controversy over the Rev. Jeremiah Wright took hold a second time in the campaign and before Clinton engaged Obama in a debate over her proposal for a federal gasoline tax holiday”.
AND NOW WE KNOW WHY OBAMA WAS BEGGING SUPPORTERS TO GO OUT AND VOTE EARLY ANOTHER PLOY USED BY THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN…. THEY KNOW REV. WRIGHT WAS GOING TO COME OUT WITH HIS RANTS. DECEIVERS THE WHOLE LOT OF THEM…
THIS WHOLE PRIMARY IS RIFE WITH CORRUPTION BY THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN, FROM THE CAUCUSES, USING THE RACE CARD, HIDING REV. WRIGHT UNTIL FOX NEWS PUT HIM FRONT AND CENTER.. AND WHO KNOW WHAT ELSE IS HIDING IN THE SHADOWS?
hello, knock knock, is anyone home that was my second comment and your not posting
are you closed for the year?
For a guy who lies when he says he doesn’t take money from Big Business and lobbyists, and has raised more than $200,000,000 from “the little guy,” Barack Obama surely has some very interesting friends bundling money for him. It’s nearly overwhelming. So I thought I would do this in a kind of series and start with Bundler Frank Clark.
As you can see here, Clark is known has been known as a Lobbyist for Commonwealth Edison. He also has bundled $200,000 in contributions for Barack Obama’s campaign. Now that by itself would be interesting, but it also seems that Clark is yet another one of those people with a politically incestuous Chicago trail.
Clark is currently CEO of Commonwealth Edison. If that doesn’t ring a bell for you, Commonwealth Edison is the same company that boasts the well-connected Thomas Ayers as its former CEO. Mr. Ayers also served as Chair of the Board of Trustees of Commonwealth Edison after his tenure as CEO, so you can easily imagine he had a hand in selecting Mr. Clark as CEO.
Thomas Ayers was also the father of that fine upstanding citizen, “Guilty as hell. Free as a bird” domestic terrorist Bill Ayers. Isn’t that a coincidence? I guess Chicago is a small world for sure. (And it no doubt helped that DADDY had all those $$$ because Billy’s well-paid attorneys unearthed prosecutorial misconduct that kept Billy out of prison — where he belongs for all the bombs he brags about setting!)
As a relevant side note, it seems that Mr. Thomas Ayers, who died last year at the age of 92, was also a friend of the infamous famous Mayor Richard J. Daley Sr. in the 60s. According the the blog of a former member of the 1960s SDS, “He was always a man pulled between his role as a representative of big business and advisor to the Daley machine, and his basic values of equity and fairness…“.
It seems that, besides having connections with the Daley Machine, Mr. Ayers was a bit of a community activist himself, but in a much nicer way than his son was. Instead of blowing up buildings and killing and/or paralyzing people in terror, Thomas worked peacefully on civil rights. That’s why during the 11 years that his slime ball son was a fugitive, Bill was estranged from him–until of course Bill needed his Daddy to get him out of trouble. Most of us recognize that scenerio in smaller ways, don’t we? As parents, many of us rescue plenty of “independent” “upscale” Obama supporters regularly, generally financially.
Anyway, as I mentioned, Chicago is a really small world isn’t it?
As an additional side note, given the longstanding relationship between the Ayers family and the Daley family, it is suddenly more than understandable why the current Mayor Daley would speak out in defense of Bill Ayers when his terrorist activities resurfaced as pertinent to Barack Obama and their ongoing friendship. It also certainly helps to punctuate why hanging out with the connected Bill Ayers would be key to an ambitious Chicago politican who wants to Pass-Go-And-Collect-$200 in a hurry– and get to the Oval Office by skipping as many steps as possible. Look how well things worked out for Barack with Commonwealth Edison to the tune of $200,000!
Back to Mr. Clark, and in keeping with the small, politically incestuous world of Chicago, this successor to Mr. Thomas Ayer’s Commonwealth throne is also a Corporate Officer of Exelon. In case Exelon doesn’t ring a bell, they are also one of Barack Obama’s top 10 contributors.
Exelon is in the energy business, including the nuclear type. So you can imagine that Exelon makes neighboring residents a bit nervous sometimes, specifically when there’s a leak. It seems that hasn’t been in the habit of reporting leaks to surrounding living things. Not wishing to glow in the dark or succumb to cancer and other deadly diseases often associated with this kind of thing, Exelon’s neighbors begged Barack Obama to craft a bill that would force Exelon to stop this secretive habit that could be dangerous to people’s health. They wanted Barack Obama to ensure that Exelon was required by law to notify neighbors in the event of a nuclear incident. You can understand why this might be important to adults, children and other living things, right?
Loveable, honest Barack Obama promised he would take care of the unreported nuclear leak problem and sponsored a bill to make it mandatory for Exelon to notify living things around them if they ever had another incident. The problem is, by the time the bill got passed, “mandatory” became “voluntary“. The new bill removed all language mandating prompt reporting and simply offered guidance to regulators, whom it charged with addressing the issue of unreported leaks.
So now all of Obama’s consituents who live near Exelon can rest easily knowing that nothing has changed. But it has worked out really well for Barack Obama–to the tune of $200,000 in bundled contributions from Exelon CEO Frank Clark.
It’s good to know that Barack Obama would never endanger the health and welfare of his constituents for money, isn’t it?
Republicans are running scared with their tails between their legs! The general election will be a joke! McCain should just drop out now before he does more damage to the Republicans then they have already done to themselves, ie. low turnout, no money and a pathetic nominee to say the least as is evident with 20% still voting for someone other than McBush! HAHA!!!
Obama is not what he seems to be. People are blind to the truth about him. no one spends 20 years of one life under a pastor without sharing those views.
this guy is just to smothe, spues BS like a pro. Not foolen me.
he will distroy this country
The point is that Obama has been losing and still is after Jerry Wright and Michelle opened their mouths about how they felt about America. Obama would not have won those early primaries if we had known back then.
I can’t believe how well Obama is doing. People are just ignoring the facts about him and not realizing the danger they could be putting all of America in. This is the most raciest political thing I have ever seen. And yes, I do remember the 60’s. This is worse. At least people understood and took notice back then and did something about it. Today they don’t care. It’s just WRONG to vote for someone because of the color of their skin. This man Obama is a radical raciest lying communistic bigot. Do the research you’ll see the associations he has (birds of a feather flock together) and don’t make excuses about the facts! And yes people do vote according to skin color only! FACT: Black man robbed a 18year old white girl at gun point when he jumped into her car in a parking lot, made her drive downtown and put him out. He had her broken necklace, other jewelry and wallet in his pocket at the time the police officers got him. Young girl had given detailed description of criminal and of the items he stole. Went to court. Black people (
on jury in the deliberating room said, QUOTE :” We ain’t gonna say he did or didn’t do it, we just ain’t gonna send a brother to jail.” The criminal walked. The victim left fearful for her life. Racism has got to stop. Saying that Obama can “credibly argue” anything is truly incredible itself.
Black voters voted by race in the mid 90%s. White voters were more color blind and voted for Hillary and Obama. What does that say about who is racially prejudiced and bigoted?
White folks of America. While we’ve been spending our time trying to improve race relations, blacks seem to have been hunkering down behind the “Blace Liberation” likes of Reverend Wright and growning in hatred the more opportunity and help they have been given. I personally have been shocked by the level of hatred!
I say to all the white voters out there, need to “Unite to Vote White.” Do not let this socialist, Kenya loving (dual citizenship and his interferrence in internal affairs–google Obama Odinga Kenya), Africa allegiance pledging, terrorist supporting (Khalidi, Auchi, Ayers, Michelle) nincompoop win just because he is black!
UNITE! VOTE WHITE!!! Hillary is sinking so–Vote McCain. He’s a presidential candidate for all of us! Not just supporting a white agenda or a black agenda. Enough of this! If blacks, without missing a beat can vote black, claiming they want someone who “looks like us” then whites should do the same. What’s good for the black goose is just as good for the white gander.
UNITE! VOTE WHITE!!!
This isn’t posting in case anyone is really monitoring.
Thank you for this article and for clearing things up. OBama and the world behaves as if he has already won and won big. But the truth is if those early votes were done over after the Wright controversy, the cling comment and the exceptionally poor performance at the last debate - perhaps it would be a very different outcome.
OBama will never - not ever - not in a million years - get my vote.
I trust him about as far as I can throw my horse!
Although I have not been a fan of Fox News, I have been watching lately and have become a big fan of Major Garrett. He gives full and complete information, background, and does it rapid-fire (which I like vs. hems and haws from some others) so I really pay attention. And he doesn’t seem to have an axe to grind like some (Carl Cameron comes to mind in addition to the Brit Hume crowd). He is just a journalist, which is what I want when I watch the news. I will continue to channel-jump to Fox in hopes of catching Major Garrett’s reports. Thank you Major Garrett for your excellence in journalism. Keep up the good work.
Senator clinton, You need to go on and get out.You can,t win hun I know you would make a great president. But since this has started you have had every media station, newspaper, white male, blacks, republicans.against you.Kinda hard to win. When they set you up like they did. This is a lousy country an a lousy election. But put Obama in there you genuis’ then you live with it.This has got to be the stupidest, crookest country in the world.I know the government hides everything from the people. Is Bush an cheney making enough out of this war in there oil stock.Don.t want either one of them to get out without plenty of money. This country is getting worse by the day.And the only reason Obama is even were he,s at,To quote ferraro that had the guts to say it,BECAUSE THE MAN IS BLACK HANDS DOWN.And you think this country is screwed up now wait till he gets through.Politicians are complete IDIOTS!!!.Bar none. Good luck america,Your gonna need it.
Just telling the truth,Which you can,t hardly do today.Without being offensive, politically incorrect,or discriminating.
For the first time in 40 years I will not vote in this election.
Clinton is un-electable because of the male dominated political atmosphere in the US. The male population will not elect a female president yet.
Unfortunately I am afraid that the young population will again elect our president as they did in 2000 and 2004 where we were condemned to eight years of the Bush vacations and revenge politics.
We are shaped by our parents. I personally knew Barack Hussein Obama’s mother at the University of Hawaii. She idolized the moslem religion and Sadam Hussein . She was alienated from her parents because of her believes. That is how she met Baracks father. He treated her as a hooker and never considered her in a marriageable light. She was beneath him and he treated her that way.
She kept in contact with me when she moved to Indoneshia she enjoyed being treated as a possession.
Why has it not been publicised more strongly that he follows alot of the Moslem habits and that his middle name is Hussein. His mother named him after her idol.

i don’t doubt hillary’s quest to win at all costs, but i question her decision-making expertise extrapolated to national and international problems. inspite of people talking to her, she’s willing to bring down the democratic party and give the general election to mccain.
i cannot see the DNC seating florida or michigan. if they do, they will set a precident and will have more states ignoring the rules in four years.
Hi,
I was a democrate for 30 years but I will never sign a democrate ballot again. I am so disgusted the way the Obama camp has strong armed Hillary.
I am now a Republican.
FOX what are you talking about?
Obama was in the lead going into the NC and Indiana primary….. If anything Clinton beating Obama in his backyard was a minor upset!!!!!! The ground haven’t change a bit….. Obama still got his younger and African voters and Clinton got her white collars voters…… Nothing have change a bit, except can Obama carried those white collars voter in the Fall? Kerry couldnt do it, and have feeling that Obama have more backage than Kerry, he going to struggle to those white collars voters, and this time there not enough African American voters to bail him out this time in the gerneral election!!!!!!
In light of Tuesday’s results, the time has come for Hillary Clinton make a graceful exit from the race. It’s clear that she can’t overtake Obama in delegates or the popular vote. Even if Florida and Michigan are counted.
To continue in a race that she can’t win fairly, will only further damage her political future. She fought hard but in the end, it was Bill Clinton that caused her demise. Their “do whatever it takes and apologize later” stradegy backfired on them. They overestimated the tolerance of the American people about the use of such tactics. Either way, The Clintons will be kicking themselves for blowing an election that they never should have lost. Perhaps… it is time to turn the page.
Good point - as crazy as it sounds, exit polls show Obama is still terribly weak as a general-appeal and general election candidate.
As far fetched as it sounds, Clinton does have an argument and a point — it’s a pity the numbers work against her.
Voters, INCLUDING SUPERDELEGATES, need read only one thing to explain why they should not endorse Sen Obama. I dare you to read this from his own Chicago Tribune…..

Major,
I think Obama has done well because of his superior organization in place. In Indiana it made it much easier to send bus and carloads of supporters to our neighboring state to canvass for Barack and help convince undecideds and get out the vote. After all the negative publicity that Obama received leading up to Tuesday we (his supporters) redoubled our efforts and worked harder then ever to make sure his message is out there. And by the way, Barack is supported by Americans in all colors shapes and sizes and I think that has been seriously taken for granted. I think John McCain is a great American who has committed tremendous sacrifice for our country but I think he will fall hard on the Bush administrations immoral policies that have severly damaged this great country internally and externally.
The Pied Piper of Chicago is leading the children to the polls. The children are all intoxicated with this voice, with his looks and with his bluejeans.
In November, he will face the entire American Electorate. The tune is going to have to be a lot different or the voters will lead the Pied Piper to defeat. What is the tune, anyway?
A key issue is that there are a lot of republicans that do not want to see Obama as the democratic nominee. So Obama has been having to over come the extra Hilary votes cast by republicans that would rather see her face McCain in November.
Senator Obama has had a lot to overcome and he is still doing well.
I am a Regan Democratic & do not vote the party, but the person. Here are the facts as I see it. According to the talking heads on CNN & probably other news networks, the white working class who do NOT have college degrees are Senator Clintons supporters. I hate to tell epople that you don’t need to have a college degree in order to have a brain cell. The indication was that Senator Obama supporters were college grads? So what, book smart does not make taht someone knowledgeable of anything except of what they studied.
However, I am writting this comment to let the Democratic Party & any other college person that Senator Clinton supporters, myself, family & friends will change our political affiliation if Senator Obama is the Democratic Nominee.
Reasons
1. Voters in Florida & Michigian need to have their voices heard. Obama took his name off of the ballot in Michigian & he was too late getting it back on. His name was on the Florida ballot. He also campaigned with ads..
2. Senator Obama is just too inexperienced to run the country.
3. Senators Obama’s associations for the past 20 years are still questionable.
4. Most importantly, he will NEVER beat Senator McCain.
If the Democratic Party cannot see that the voters & supporters of the Democratic Party will leave them & put a Republician back in the White House they need to pass around whatever they are smoking….
It is disturbing that people vote for someone not based on thei values or solutions to difficult issues, but by the color of their skin. We know for a fact that there are voters that have voted for him because they actually believe in him, & guess what….they were white voters. However when you have over 90% of black voters supporting Senator Obama, you know it is the color of his skin that is causing their support. I find this disguesting and so should all Americans who believe that this country is worth more than to have an inexperienced President.
I don’t know who these super delegates are, but their names can easily be found & I am quite sure they will be remembered next time they look to the public for support.
The Democratic Party people that put this together should resign and get another job.
Lois, PA
the only thing he can not beat McCaine
There was an article in the Wall Street Journal on Cindy McCain, John”so wife. All I ever saw was this attractive woman standing beside John. I was surprised how talented and involved with world problems she is. This is a summary of the article.
She graduated from Southern Cal and was a special-needs teacher. After her Dad died she became involved with his beer distributing firm and is now the chairwoman. Sales have doubled since she has taken over from her father. They have a marriage prenuptial agreement, her assets remain separate. She is involved around the world clearing land mines - travels to these countries on a detonation team and service on their board. They have a 19 year old serving in Iraq , another son in the Naval Academy , a daughter recently graduated from Columbia Univ. , an adopted daughter in high school, and a son who is the finance guy at the beer firm. Raised kids in Phoenix , Az rather than Washington DC.(better atmosphere) He commuted. In 1991, Mrs. McCain came across a girl in an orphanage in Bangladesh . Mother Teresa implored Mrs. McCain to take the baby with severe cleft palate. She did so without first telling her husband. The couple adopted the girl who has had a dozen operations to repair her cleft palate and other medical problems.
They have a Family Foundation for children’s causes. She’s active with “Halo Trust” - to clear land mines, provide water and food in war ravaged and developing countries. She will join an overseas mission of “Operation Smile”, a charity for corrective surgery on children’s faces. She has had two back surgeries and became addicted to pain killers. She talks openly about it which she says is part of the recovery process.
I’m surprised the media is so quiet about her attributes. She sounds more capable than Hillary or Obama. We would really get two for the price of one. A person with business and international experience. John did work for the firm for awhile when he left the Navy. She, however, has the real business experience. Very interesting

It doesn’t matter what the polls said. he isn’t fit to fill the shoes of even G bush. Obama IF HE BEATS MCCAIN HE will become the illigitamate president to me and a lot of dems who think the media and the obama fairytale spinners that stole the election will get whats comming because he will not deliver. HE’S WEAK AND MY ENTIRE FAMILY AND FRIENDS WILL BE VOTING REP OR NOT AT ALL.
OBAMA AND HIS WIFE HAVE SHOWN ME IN THEIR REMARKS AND ATTITUDE THAT THEY HAVE A CHIP ON THEIR SHOULDER ABOUT WHITE AMERICA AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET PASSED IT. THEY DON NOT REPRESNT MY VALUES AT ALL.
How can Obama possibly lead the greatest nation on earth when he doesn’t even know or care how many States are in it?
WHY, WHY, WHY, would we ever want or need a President so ignorant? We are supposed to trust him to negotiate on our behalf with world super powers? ….. I don’t think so!
C’mon superdeligates …. wake up from your coolaide trance.
