In Slight Reversal, Obama Campaign Rejects Clark

Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton just sent around this e-mail:

“As he’s said many times before, Senator Obama honors and respects Senator McCain’s service, and of course he rejects yesterday’s statement by General Clark.”

Earlier today, on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Obama Communications Director Robert Gibbs did not reject Clark’s comments.

“Those are the comments of Gen. Clark and they are not the comments of Barack Obama. We certainly honor the service and sacrifice and heroism of John McCain.”

Obviously, Gibbs did not embrace Clarks’ comments, but didn’t reject them or work overtime to distance the campaign from them. Burton has, clear evidence the campaign decided it had a problem on its hands.

Also, Democrats want to point out that Col. Bud Day, now on McCain’s “Truth Squad” was a member of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth that McCain attacked during the 2004 campaign for airing “dishonest and dishonorable” attacks against Kerry that amounted to a “cheap stunt.”

As other money-watchers have also noticed, McCains’ accepted at least $61,000 in direct and bundled contributions this campaign from three top funders of the Swift Boat Veterans, among them Bob Perry, T. Boone Pickens and Harold Simmons.

When it is politically expedient, the idiot Clark’s comments will be rejected but we all know that Obama agrees with him. Clark needs to go back to the slime he crawled out of.

The problem for Obama is, everything that Clark said about McCain is 100 times truer for Obama. That is, if McCain doesn’t have enough “wartime” leadership and “executive” experience, Obama has none. McCain is a hero not only for his service in Viet Nam but for his service in the United States Senate, where he has made many “calls,” sometimes to the disillusionment of his own party and sometimes to the disillusionment of the Democrats, but definitely “calls.” One of them was for campaign finance reform, which was attacked by his own party but embraced by the Democrats and ignored by Obama, who is happy to take as much money he can get from whomever he can get it.

Obama is right to reject the comments because people in glass houses don’t throw stones.

It’s so easy to say I’m sorry or reject a statement after it has been done.
Hypocrite.
clark always was a prima dona. He sure thought Kerry was qualified for his “experience”.
What a weasel.

Typical of Obama’s campaign. Get a surrogate to throw something out there and then personally distance yourself from what was said. Once it’s said, it’s out there however. Perhaps General Clark also forgot, McCain criticised Rumsfeld’s managing of operations and endorsed the troop surge. Both proved to be excellent examples of good judgment on McCain’s part.
Obama has exhibited this pattern throughout his primary campaign and now with the general campaign he hasn’t altered it. Running from debates (including the last one scheduled with Hillary), constant flip flopping, dubious associations and a far left liberal agenda…Obama can’t win.

Hugh Shelton, a real general and patriot, once said of Clark, that he would not vote for him because Clark has character and integrity problems. To make it even clearer, Clark is a political whore and a demo lap dog. Even Bill Clinton couldn’t stomach any more of his CYA comments with regard to his failures in Kosovo and forced an early retirement. Fortunately for America this kind of slimy general comes along infrequently.

Same old song, same old verse. One of Barak (formally Barry) Obama hit men makes his mark and Obama says he sorry. Come on give me a break!

PS: Not that this will hurt Obama. The liberal press has helped the democrats brainwash many Americans that character doesn’t matter, partisanship trumps statesmanship, and surrender will win us friends.

WESLEY CLARK IS A DISGRACE TO THE WHOLE WORLD.

HE LIES ABOUT EVERYTHING.

AN ULTRA NUTBAG.

OBAMA AND HIM ARE BUDDIES.

Clark just voiced an honest opinion. Lets face it people, this country needs someone that can help us all, not an old grumpy war hero who thinks of women as c–ts. AND WHATS ALL THIS JIBBERISH ABOUT EXPERIENCE. BUSH HAD EXPERIENCE AND LOOK WHERE WE ARE TODAY. I BELIEVE THE WORD EXPERIENCE IS TRULY A CODE WORD FOR BLACK. YOU BIGGOTS ARE PRETTY CRAFTY. OBAMA WILL TAKE OFFICE IN JANUARY TURN THINGS AROUND AND YOU BIGGOTS WILL STILL BE COMPLAINING BECAUSE HE IS BLACK. OBAMA 08.

Neither candidate has the experience to be president. That’s true of all first term wantabes. Only second term candidate have that experience. So, are the two men qualified? Yes, and as qualified as any of our former presidents. Rationally, the POW experience of McCain does not qualify him. It makes him a patriot and a hero. His education level, his private life and how he conducted himself, as a leader and his experience in the Senate are all qualifying factors. Now look at his integrity and who are the people surrounding his campaign. He got a pass on the Keeting 5 scandal, and now surrounds himself with people like Phil Grahmn whose vote was always for sale, who brought you the bigger part of the housing market collapse and $4 oil by being ENRON’s paid Senator. That association between McCain and Phil Grahmn reveals that McCain will be the same sell out that Bush and Grahm are. On the other hand by process of elimination, Obama has the education, experience as community organizer, legislator and senator and a campaign funded by small donations. Not to hard to figure the odds of who would be in our best interest to hire for president. Some of you will never figure it out.

I was stationed in Germany when Gen. Wesley “Paper-pusher” was commanding US
forces in Europe. To the best of my knowledge he has never been in any combat
and operates behind a desk in a neat office. He is a REMF. Most of you former
army people know what that means.

Clark’s comments were out in left field. There is no way Clark should have made these remarks.

I for one had much rather have the next President understand and know first hand the duty required of Service members for our country. No way they, Obama or Clark, get the point that experience means more than sitting in an office and telling others to risk their lives. McCain has been there and done that on the front.

What makes a “war hero” qualified to be a president. These jobs are very different.
If we had applied this requirement to Bush, the he would fall short.

With all this todo about McCain supposedly not being qualified to be president, just because of his military record, I keep waiting for someone to explain how less than one term as a senator qualifies Obama to be a president. He’s had absolutely no military experiience, very little, next to none, senatorial experience . I haven’t heard of any experience he’s had in anything except saying “change.” I’d like to send him a couple of dimes because that’s all the change he is going to give us. He’s more of a Capital politician than John McCain. He just tries to hide it behind all of his managers, who have been in Washington, longer than Obama has lived. He must think we all fell off the turnip truck….it’s obvious all those screaming for him have.

The problem with McCain is he has been in Washington too long and cannot accommodate the need changes we deserately need in Washington. McCain represents more of the same Bush failed policies and strategies.

In response to zan’s comment, I am not surprised that an Obama supporter would pull the race card. If you notice, this situation has absolutely NOTHING to do with race; however, it always seems to be brought up again and again…by Obama supporters. I suppose that the Democrats are upset that Republicans will not stoop that low to make race an issue.

The GOOD COP BAD COP continues……Clark says that McCain past military experience is nothing and worthless in respects to being president….even suggesting that only generals can use the right of leadership thus dissing all the majors, captain, lt col and full colonels who have to lead to do the bidding of the general. This approach demeans the entire officer corp and Clark should be ashamed of what he has said simple to satisfy a political ambition……and Obama calls this an advisor……by not firing him Obama supports what Clark says pure and simple irregardless of what he says to the press and the american people. Obama can not be trusted…his pick of associations was poor in the past and he again demonstrates his poor chaoice of character again in Clark.

The swiftboaters had a credible story.

Wes Clark has none.

Ate you kidding??? The whole thing was a set up by the Obama campaign…so Obama could Grand stand on another statement..This has been going on since South Carolina when Obama’s campaign actually denied they were pushing the racist issue they were trying to place on Hillary and Bill. Obama was caught in a lie when Meet the Press found 4 pages of documents from Obama’s campaign raising and inciting the race issue.. That’s the Obama strategy. That’s how the he won S. Carolina….

Atlanta Ga Retirement Community…

I have to say, that I could not agree with you in 100%, but it’s just my opinion, which could be wrong….
