They Talked, They Talked – Update
Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton talked by phone today.
Here’s the release from campaign spokesman Bill Burton:
“Senator Obama had a terrific conversation with President Clinton and is honored to have his support in this campaign. He has always believed that Bill Clinton is one of this nation’s great leaders and most brilliant minds, and looks forward to seeing him on the campaign trail and receiving his counsel in the months to come.”
And here’s the release from Clinton Foundation Spokesman Matt McKenna:
“President Clinton had a very good conversation with Sen. Obama today. He renewed his offer to do whatever he can to ensure Sen. Obama is our next President.
“President Clinton continues to be impressed by Sen. Obama and the campaign he has run, and looks forward to campaigning for and with him in the months to come. The President believes that Senator Obama has been a great inspiration for millions of people around the country and he knows that he will bring the change America needs as our next President.”
This continues the studious courting of the Clintons by the Obama campaign. Obama’s speech in Unity, N.H., on Friday included a long pro-Hillary riff but also a good nod to the former president’s service and value on the campaign trail.
Earlier today, on MSNBC, chief Obama strategist David Axelrod said Obama and Clinton (Bill, not Hillary) could see each other as soon as this week.
The Obama campaign knows it needs to settle these waters, whether they are genuinely roiled or not. Yes, it’s true that the former president was a bit irked that he hadn’t heard from Obama. But its seems worth pointing that the onus could have been as much on Bill Clinton to congratulate Obama as upon Obama to kiss the metaphorical ring of the former president.
But the process of Unity, Level Two (or is that Level 42?) has now begun. Stay tuned.

Bill Clinton owes obama – ZERO!!!! We will NOT forget how awful the obama gang treated the Clintons – even called him a RACIST – obama sends his gang out to do all his dirty work – so he can look like that good guy of UNITY – what a FRAUD!
Obama didn’t play the race card. Bill made foolish statements regarding South Carolina and the media jumped on it. Obama also never played the gender card.
Find one instance where Obama said anything to offend Hillary or Bill concerning race/gender. Clinton supporters’ anger against Obama is irrational.
It is all about Clinton. Clinton looks at Obama as an upstart not worthy of being a recipient of Bubba’s used under shorts. Anything that is said in public is not going to erase Clinton’s anger for lHillary’s loss, and for being characterized as a racist by Obama’s campaign. Without the media behind him, the real Bill Clinton emerged during the primaries. He is vindictive, arrogant and a loose cannon that cannot be relied on to be a team player. If I were Obama, I would keep him on a very short rope.
Im sick of all these republicans pretending to be loyal hillary supporters. If you are a true democrat you will automatically support the nominee. Im a black man that supported hillary. now that shes out i support obama 100 percent. If u want to stay in a recession just vote for mccain in november. Mccain is an awesome american for sure. But like bush he has no clue of the everyday struggles of the little people in this country.
Well stated Zan. Half these comments are probably made by republicans who are paid to make them.
Does anyone really believe that the tens of millions of dollars Obama promised the Clintons was transferred before Slick answered Obama’s call? Honestly people.
Obama needs the Clintons more than the Clintons need him. Sure..Obama has asked his top fundraisers to help with HRC’s 10mil. vendor debt, but in return, HRC has asked her top fundraisers to throw their support to Obama…which could garner him anywhere from $50-100million. Not a bad investment.
As to the race card…actually, Obama’s surrogate did indeed add the fuel to the fire. Taken in context, what BC said was a factual statement. The only other Presidential candidate he could have referenced would have been himself, and that would have sounded quite silly. The ironic thing about the SC remark..Jesse Jackson spoke before the memos from Bill Burton were discovered, and JJ stated he was not at all offended by BC’s remark. Once the memos added fuel to the fire, all of a sudden, this was a “racist” comment. It was a brilliant move on Obama’s part, because after he solidified the black vote, he never had to work for it again. He didn’t go to the Black Forum in New Orleans, he didn’t go to the MLK celebration in Memphis, he didn’t go to the Black Library event(can’t remember where it was), because Obama didn’t feel he had to. Hillary went to all three……..
To label the Clinton’s as racists is like saying Mother Teresa is the devil. Their works and civil rights work simply defy the label.
I suppose that is what has bothered me about Obama all along. I can’t stand a hypocrite, and he’s all the things he says he isn’t, and has based his campaign on being above typical Wash. tactics. He’s very Washington as Usual….just look at the former Washington players on his campaign. Look at the former “registered” lobbyists on his campaign. Look at how much money he paid the superdelegates for their support. Look at the lobbyists he takes advise from everyday… Heck, many of his supporters even think the man “voted” against the war resolution, when in fact, he gave an anti-war speech at an anti-war rally, and wasn’t in the Senate at the time of the vote. He actually hasn’t ever stood up for anything when the going gets tough. He also isn’t about unity as he says..he was one of the most partisan Senators in Washington. Lindsey Graham said Hillary was one of the most skilled Senators at working across party lines, contrary to the image that was painted of her. There’s this, and so much more I could mention….it just really bothers me about Obama’s hypocrisy.
The constitution party has a candidate that loves the moral right you have a home in this party lets join and have the neo con centrists come begging to be part of it on our terms. vote chuck baldwin in 2008.
Obhamas & Shrills policies & plans DO NOT WORK, talk about old news in a redesigned package?!!! They keep the dumb down & are trying to get rid of the middle class & have socialism is what I see. McCAIN /ROMNEY 2008!!
Who cares about chit chatting with a lowlife ? go to a wrestling match and you’ll see a dozen of losers like him or your local strip bar. Just a lying loser that slid in due to Ross Perot. He actually got me interested in politics, thought he could clean house being a self-made millionaire!
Yes, its good to see that they’ve crossed the bridge. I hope they will be able to work together. It was gracious of Obama to call Bill. I believe in Obama because he is a humble man who is committed and determined to create change. Vote for Obama! Visit WhyObama08.org!
Obhamas can read a telepromter somewhat enthusiastically & vaguely sound “hopeful”, but what he is TRULY about & his PLANS DO NOT WORK!!! Look at all big cities run by Dembos for DECADES, terrible education, high crime, high poverty, low employment, poor health & throwing money at it HAS NOT HELPED!!! READ – REAL CHANGE by NEWT……EXCELLENT!!!!!
Response to the comment by Aiken Blue, July 1st, 2008
Hi Aiken, you surely admired and praised B. Obama heartily!
But unfortuately, you did it based on the “narrow minded” and “short sighted” observations!
Have you ever given a thought about his qualifications and experiences to be a leader of this country? How hard and how tough to take care of the business on that highest position in the nation? Think, think and think for one more time!
He is NOT ready with his thicker than “skin-deep” experiebce this time!
Talk, talk, as a “talking -head” for what it is called CHANGE, is a colorful but hollow
campaign illusion!
So, please DO NOT vote for him, just calmly scrutinizing him in-and-out one more time, and you will know that I am not “B….S…” on you!

Hi KMB08:
My impression to Obama has been nothing but Talk, Talk, Talk…may be one of the most talented political “Talking Head” of the year!
After reading your comment and noticed the last stenance which stated as “….it just bothers me about Obams’s hypocrisy”, my mindly reaction just popped it up as THAT’S IT!
I feel so sorry for those who still blindly believe in the CHANGE! A wake-up call is definitely needed for those delusive souls!

I wonder if Bill liked the taste of Obama’s feet while he was licking his boots? Next he and Hillary will take turns kissing his butt. Hillary has let me down. She will do just what the democratic party tells her to. Money can buy anyone.
