At his press conference today in Zanesville, Ohio, Barack Obama said the following after his Monday telephone conversation – described by his campaign as “terrific” – with former President Bill Clinton.
“I absolutely want Bill Clinton campaigning for me we had a great conversation. He is one of the most gifted public officials of our generation. And, you know, (he) has, has been one of the most successful presidents we have had in my lifetime. And so I want his active involvement his, active participation.
On the subject of the occasionally testy back-and-forth between the Obama and Hillary Clinton campaigns, Obama said:
“We did not belabor the primary season. I think what we both acknowledged is that when you are in a tough primary battle you say things that afterwards you may end up thinking that might have been a little intemperate but that is the nature of political campaigns.”
As for the general election mojo with the former president, Obama said: “We are absolutely united in wanting to make sure that Democrats succeed both in congress and in the White House in November and that we can move an agenda forward that is actually going to help people in Ohio.”
They are assuredly united in “wanting” to achieve maximum success for Democrats, starting with Obama himself. But there is still work to do here. Aides to the former president said Obama and Clinton are exploring a joint campaign appearance in the near future and a private dinner. Or it could be a private dinner and then a joint campaign appearance. Details are still being worked out, but one or both of these could occur in the next two weeks.

After all that happened, Obama is still showing that he loves Bill Clinton. Politics and Money can make anyone do anything, after all…
Despite the howls of protest and bitter comments from Clinton supporters, I think history will show that Obama ran a restrained campaign against Hillary–ran to beat her, not humiliate or destroy her. He knew if he won, he would need to unify the party and thus needed to play a balancing act–win convincingly enough to gain superdelegate support, but not in a way that was viewed piling on or dirty.
It’s hard to gauge the importance of Bill Clinton’s support. Despite some of his gaffes in the primary, he was a relentless campaigner for Hillary. I couldn’t believe the schedule he was keeping. The question is whether his negatives with Republicans cancel out his rockstar status with Democrats. I think he could be very important in helping deliver the Bubba vote for Obama. That could put some states in play that might otherwise be safe for McCain.
I just plain don’t trust anything that comes out fo fox news.

Bill Clinton may indeed be gifted, but he is also a convicted felon. Remarkably, Bill Clinton still seems more palatable than Hillary due to her divisive remarks and tone in the primary.
Obama is clearly very hopeful of getting the support of Mr. Clinton as he should be. If he’s to sew up the loose ends among the white male fiscal conservatives within the Democratic Party likely hopes that Clinton will help him round them up–rather than bringing John Edwards on board as VP.
But he’s misguided. Those guys are already independants, GOP, or Libertarians–and no matter who the high power white male Democratic voice is supporting for Obama–it doesn’t change the entire tone of this years Democratic Agenda it’s controversial and very costly tax and social policy initiatives.
Sorry Barrack. But those few–who have been entirely ignored within the Democratic Party for 8 years–are now gone.
Have a happy 4th of July.
Obama needs the Clintons but I hope the Clinton supportes can see through this as an action pushed by the democrats power-palyer who pushed Obama onto us namely Pelosi, Reis, Dean, Brazile. The Clintons have no choice but to do what they are told to. I am not sure how the Washington machine works but I read not long ago that Soros has the democrats in his pocket ans he can destroy anyone who does not play by his rules. So I guess that would mean the Clintons to.
To all of you – please vote this November with your consience and whith your mind. Ask yourself who would better lead this country in the next 4 yeras, who would help US become energy independent and who can you trust.
Lets lower the flag this fourth of july
and puy it away for good. Time to lower
the curtain on the USA. With no worthy
candidates to vote for this year, gas prices
killing our economy, both obama and mccain
selling us out to climate hysteria (global temperatures
are actually cooling). Lets just give our country
to the mexicans and the muslims and the global warming
zealots. We already did anyway. USA R.I.P.
It sounds like Obama did do the kissing to me. Bill Clinton did a good job on the economy but Obama is pushing it.
Of course Nobama wants Bill Clinton’s support. The Clintons have always helped the blacks. And rightly so. He wants all the people who supported Hillary. Not long ago folks would lead you to believe that having Bill Clinton on your side would hurt your chances. I say POO. I hope the Clintons stay as far away from Nobama as they can. This time the elections are just a big mess. They are leaving a real bad taste in the mouths of most people. Just as bad as when the Supreme Court gave us a Bush. They wonder why people don’t want to vote anymore. Crap like this is why. Hillary is what fired up the people. Men, Women, young adults and old. Of all colors and religous affiliations. When the Democratic National Committee took away my chance to vote for Hillary they gave my vote to MCCAIN in 2008.
I’m very happy that Barack and Bill have both gotten equal in terms; it’s a big relief. With Hillary, Bill, and Barack, the Democrats are back in business!
