The Bourbon Room

Dear Readers: A Note on “Comments”

Some have legitimately complained that your comments haven’t appeared on a timely basis.

Please, if I may, let me offer an explanation.

I must personally approve all comments to the blog. No comment is posted unless I hit an “approve” button. So far, I have approved every comment. My belief is the comment space belongs to you and I encourage any and all to join the conversation. I won’t penalize someone for using profanity if it fits into what I think of as the proud tradition of Lenny Bruce, George Carlin and Richard Pryor (may they all rest in peace). No explanation here should be required.

I will re-check the comment section as often as I can. I honestly can’t imagine a comment I wouldn’t approve, but, please, dear readers, don’t consider this an invitation to try.

My daily obligations on the air, conducting on-camera and off-air interviews and doing other research may intrude with my “comment approving” speed. I ask for your patience and welcome any and all commentary on this or any other subjects.

As loyal readers (you hearty few) have known for some time, I prefer longer form posts and sometimes have left this site dormant for days and days while I reported and composed these pieces. I will still do that. But I have also come to appreciate (horribly late, I now realize) the desire to read about and debate issues of the daily on an hour-by-hour basis. I will try to serve those desires as best I can.

More importantly, you have my commitment to monitor and approve comments as soon as I possibly can. To those who have been frustrated on this score, I apologize and promise better and more responsive service.

I am happy you consider this site worth checking and want to make it as much your forum as it is mine — possibly even more so.

Thank you.

Major

We appreciate you addressing the issue.

You are a cool guy.

I’m impressed and thanks for the comments. I wish that held true to the non-manned blogs that use rules-based filtering. One one hand, I understand the need to filter out profanity and flagrant mis-use of the comments section and I know in some cases, there is considerable traffic (responses) that warrant such techniques, but for you to take the time to take the time to look at/approve comments I find to be awesome.

For me I find the blog comments, good and bad, to be a useful tool for the public to vent/share their opinions among others and there are very good nuggets that one can find that add clarity or raise one’s attention to other insights that is to me one of the positive outcomes from such mediums of communication.

I am so glad you left CNN. I used to watch you there, too. Greta and Hemmer, also.

Love FOX. You are a big reason. One of the more intelligent faces on camera. oh, yeah, and you are not hard to look at, either!

uh, yeah, sure you read all the comments and then approve ALL of them….how can we KNOW that you are showing us every nuance of opinion…..of course, this is FOX, an official arm of the NRC…not to be confused with the NRA…..altho they are one and the same.

Why do you always pick the anti-Obama stories? Mr McSame is no angel, believe me. It will all come out in time for November.

I left one comment perhaps 6 months ago, and it has never accepted anything else I have written.
I tried today, to leave a comment and when I hit submit, it wouldn’t move, period.

The democrats including Barach have taken on John Mc Cain with an argument that challenges his heroic activities in Vietnam.

I remember just like it was yesterday on the Forrestal off the coast of Vietnam. We had been supplied with old and unpredictable ammunition. An explosion and fire insued engulfing the flight deck and the A6 aircraft ready to launch that morning.

I remember whie assisting in the care of the injured seeing John drenched in blood make his way to the corpmen that were assisting in aid for the numerous injured men.

John was transferred to to another carrier closeby and that same day was launched to provide essential close ground air support for our troops in Vietnam. He was shot down and taken prisioner. His dedication and acchievements are now being scrutinized and critiqued by Barachs assisins and all Barach has to say is was not and artfull remark.

I have not been able to leave comments all week. Is it a problem with my computer that I can not submit?

Comment by susie

You do not post all comments. I have continuously left comments, no bad language either, and they have not been posted. P.S. I favor Republicans, so maybe that is where the fault lies.

The comments on the regular ElectionHQ section with the articles haven’t been going through at all for the last few days. The page just freezes. I have been able to read any comments to those articles on that site either: why? Usually they are posted and after about 4 PM they post immediately.

I haven’t liked these blog sites since they were Changed the end of May. The only ones now I use are on Greta Wire. Thousands are now using it. CNNs are no good. RCP has some good ones.

Sounds like the I am not the only one not able to submit this week. Must be a problem on your end.

Somebody has to check and make sure obscene language does not get through.

You would think people could make their point without using obsenities. But some small minded people abuse the priviledge of freedom of speech.

I haven;t seen any of my comments :(

Major Garrett, still shilling for the GOP? It’s getting a litle tired at this point, don’t you think, Major?

You guys at Fox are campaigning harder for McCain than McCain is himself. Non-stop, day after da. “BLAH BLAH OBAMA CONTROVERSY” “BLAH BLAH OBAMA CONTROVERSY”.

Fox considers it a “controversy” that Obama isn’t a conservative kiss-ass like Fred Barnes or Charles Krauthammer.

Anyone want to take any bets on the ratio of Republicans to Democrats tonight on the Factor and H&C? I’ll go with 4-1.

“You do not post all comments. I have continuously left comments, no bad language either, and they have not been posted. P.S. I favor Republicans, so maybe that is where the fault lies.”

Wow, Susie, you really are a moron if you believe that. I don’t know if you’ve been paying attention, but around 90% of the comments left on Fox News Blogs are by Republicans, and Major Garrett is a Republican who has written several pro-Republican books including “The Enduring Revolution”, a book about how Newt Gingrich is an “American hero” who saved American from the “evil liberal Democrats”. Garrett is a Republican brown nose. You’re an idiot if you think he deleted your comments because you are too.

right around the time that Clinton left the race not one of my comments has been posted and I check to see if there is any profanity, anything that may qualify a censorship UNLESS, it is because I do not support a certain candidate…

Comment by Fresh Brains

Well its nice you explained now I know why the turtle I saw crossing the road today as everyone paused to watch actually moved faster than the speed of internet and a comment being posted here at FOX.

Mike in Atlanta…..don’t be such a pu$$y….you only like free speech when it suits you?
Typical lib…..there is no such thing as an “abuse” of freedom of speech…that’s the whole point you spineless jellyfish.

I tried to respond to the article of 100 Christian Leaders, waited a half hour, still not posted.
I am glad that these Leaders have selected to back McCain, and I would guess that amoung the 100 not 1 again not 1 would rant and rave about what a terrible and evil country we have.
