Obama Aides Refuse to Go on Record About Dinner With Jordanian King
Two senior advisers for Barack Obama came to the rear of the press plane to brief reporters Tuesday — on background, meaning no quote attributable to anyone — about Obama’s one-on-one with King Abdullah and the subsequent dinner.
The press corps rebelled, demanding an on-the-record briefing since Obama is in the middle of a presidential campaign and that campaign must be held accountable for what it does and what Obama says about his meeting with world leaders.
The senior Obama advisers refused. One, a former high-ranking official in the Clinton White House, said the briefing had to be on background because “in all my years with the White House I never read-out a meeting on the record.”
Numerous reporters said Obama wasn’t the president and this isn’t a Whiter House trip.
Considering the massive interest in the trip, reporters are demanding basic levels of transparency.
The senior Obama staff refused to break the “on background” rules and no briefing occurred.
So, as yet, no on-the-record details about Obama’s meeting with Abdullah or the subsequent dinner with the King’s senior political, military and intelligence advisers.
Obama’s camp pledged “to revisit” the system of briefing reporters.

Gee do I smell a bit of George Bush here?? Beware you koolade drinkers, you will find yourselves with a king instead of a president. Kings answer to no one. Keep that in mind and get off that kooade before it is too late.
Kick this guy back to Chicago where he belongs with all his cronies.
Scary!!! This Muslim talking to another Muslim…in secret.
WAKE UP>>>HE IS MUSLIM>>>HE NEVER REJECTED MUHAMMED…and the so called Christian church he went to was NOT teaching the gospel…it was teaching black liberation theology…which IS NOT CHRISTIAN!!!
ARE you all brainwashed…or just morons???
Will you find out just how much BO is paying for all these meetings, sightseeing, dinners, security, transportation etc that foreign countries are providing for his photo ops.
ROFL. IF McCain had done this no one at Fox would have talked about it. It’s only an outrage because Obama did it. Conservatives aren’t opposed to media bias. They’re opposed to media bias that isn’t in their favor. Garrett is in the tank for McCain.
Maybe the Obama campaign doesnt want to make a COMPLETE political stunt out of this and he actually wants to talk and hear people out.. who knows
The press earned this treatment because of their constant spin and distortions, the campaign has to be very careful with them and keep them in their place since so many of them have no scruples and don’t know the rules of journalism.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that the Obama camp is reluctunt to release details about any of Obama’s Staffers. The more the folks in the USA find out about him the worse it is for him. He admits that the surge has made Iraq a safer place but he attributes the majority of the success to the Iraqis. I believe that everyone feels that he is an ellitest but now he’s showing just how arrogant he really is by agreing that the surge worked but even knowing that he would still have voted against it.
It’s a shame when a canidate for Pesident of the United States can’t give our men and women in the military credit for a job well done. He agrees that the surge worked but he givesmost of the credit to the Iraqis for it’s success. Then to make matters worsthe says eventhough he knows the surge worked he wouyld have still voted against it. Is this the type of person we want as President?
Why would he have an off-the-record meeting with the leader of a Muslim nation?
Let loose the conspiracy theories!
It is about time the Liberal media get their noses out of Obama’s backside. How about some fair reporting. McCain has travelled abroad with no media circus. The Media is clearly trying to influence the election.
Is it time that the influence by the media is investigated by the Federal Election Commitee?
Comparing McCain to Obama is like comparing the WNBA to the NBA. They are both basketball but I would rather watch Kevin Garnett than Candice Parker. Now the analogy would work better if I compared Garnett to some womens basketball player from the 70’s.
Maybe his staff would like to go on the record about an outright lie he has told someone in Israel?

Quote from Obama….
Now, in terms of knowing my commitments, you don’t have to just look at my words, you can look at my deeds. Just this past week, we passed out of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee, which is my committee, a bill to call for divestment from Iran, as a way of ratcheting up the pressure to ensure that they don’t obtain a nuclear weapon.
End quote…
But Obama is not a member of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee. Obama just made that up so he could count the committee’s action as one of “my deeds.”
If committed by a Republican, this would be a gaffe of historic proportions. Even a Senator as inattentive to his duties as Obama certainly knows what committees he serves on. For him to fabricate the claim, out of whole cloth, that the Senate Banking Committee is “[his] committee,” strikes me as another sign of Obama’s megalomania. That, plus more evidence that he is totally at sea without a teleprompter.
Can you find out who organized the event in Germany, how many Americans was flown over to Germany with free airfare and hotel and if they are offering free concession condiments at the event? Find out if the event is used with another german event such as using a concert to gather people? I know this is going on and wish you would report it.
thanks

Hey, the President doesn’t have to release his conversations, and a speech by the President at the Brandenburg Gate wouldn’t be a political speech.
And he does have the same Iraq policy he says he had “when I was a U.S. Senator”… did he quit?
Or did he win the election when I wasn’t looking? He sure seems to think he did. Barely a week goes by anymore that he doesn’t make a statement (like his preparing his diplomatic ties with Europe for the next 8-10 years) that seems to show he considers the election itself done and campaigning is distracting him from the necessary job of leading a nation that has somehow pre-elected him.
Something is out of whack when the American people pay more attention to charisma and the abilty to read a teleprompter than character and policy!

Obama is doing a great job of showing he can reverse Bush’s “go it alone” foreign policy. He is in accord with general petreaus and the leaders of Afganistan, Iraq, and Europe. I will be proud to have a president who builds America’s image back up again, someone with a vision and ability to inspire the people of the United States. I am glad that Senator Obama isn’t making every detail of the trip known; if he did the loonies on the right would accuse him of using it as publicity. Notice he let McSame attack while he was away; expect a hard counterstrike soon. He is building up his credentials by gaining endoresments for his foreign policy through world leaders, giving himself the ammo he needs to show Americans he is the best choice for President. He is using this week to set McCain up – get ready for another knock down!
Obama for President!
