Obama Hints Veep Is a “He”

RALEIGH, N.C. — 8:25 p.m. EDT

It wasn’t much, but Obama said “he” when asked at a town hall here just now about his unnamed vice presidential nominee.

Obama didn’t reveal any names (of course), but when describing the characteristics of his running mate, Obama usedthe word “he” three times when discussing the running mate’s approach to governing in an Obama White House.

Among the possible running mates for Obama are two women: New York Sen. Hillary Clinton and Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

After saying his vice president will not, as he implied vice President Cheney had, exercise undue influence on foreign and domestic policy, Obama said of his vice president: “I won’t have my vice president engineer foreign policy for me. The buck will stop with me, because I will be the president. My vice president, also, by the way, my vice president will be a member of the executive branch. He won’t be one of these 4th branches of government where he thinks he’s above the law.”

The second and third uses of “he” could well have been Obama talking about Cheney. the first one, however, could not be so interpreted.
In his long answer about the qualities he was looking for, the junior senator from Illinois said he was looking for “somebody” or “someone,” but the slipped reference to “he” caught the ears of reporters and Obama’s traveling press staff.

“I heard it,” said traveling spokeswoman Jen Psaki. “I don’t think it means anything.”

We shall see.

“He” is generic. “She” is specific. There were no gender hints here.

The word ‘he’ is used generically by Obama. It names the position only in a masculine way. To do otherwise would leave no doubt about the gender of the person selected.

The vice presidential nominee, in all likelihood, is going to be HRC.

If not, she will sling poo at the convention and create a disturbance during the post-convention campaigning. Her aim will be to derail Obama insuring the election of John McCain. Then HRC can run against McCain in 2012.

If so, she will sling poo after the convention and create a disturbance during the post-convention campaigning. Her aim will be to derail Obama insuring the election of John McCain. Then HRC can run against McCain in 2012.

It’s called the Vonnegut approach.

It will work. Stay tuned.

I think Barak Obama used “HE” being Indo-European(old english) way often used to described somebody whose gender was not specified: “A child (V.P.) needs time to learn and can then move at his own pace.”
This examply does not imlpy that Obama’s V.P. must neccessarily be a “HE”. Watch out for suprises.

Today’s headlines state, in part, “A combative Barack Obama said Tuesday that Republican John McCain “doesn’t know what he’s up against” in this election and challenged his rival to stop questioning his character and patriotism.” “Our job in this election is not just ‘win,’ although I’m a big believer in winning,” Obama said during the rally. “I don’t intend to lose this election. John McCain doesn’t know what he’s up against.”

Furthermore, yesterday Senator Obama also stated, in part , “My vice president, also, by the way, my vice president will be a member of the executive branch. He won’t be one of these 4th branches of government where he thinks he’s above the law.”

I’m at a loss as to his references regarding the “4th branches of the government” and “…thinks he’s above the law.” However, isn’t General Colin Powell with the Executive Branch of the government and might he be Senator Obama’s Vice Presidential selection?

Lastly, gentlemen, please stop with the women/HRC bashing. You’re probably all men of good character and such pettiness is not appealing. Thanks!

If Hillary is not the VP I will not be voting this year. Many people will just stay home.

With all the blatant sexism in the primary, there is no reason to think he would want a “sweetie” as VP, and no reason to think any self-respecting woman would want the position. Remember the “Iron My Shirts” sign everyone thought was so hilarious? I have to ask, what would have happened if someone would have brought to an Obama forum a “Shine My Shoes” sign… I see no difference. Both are totally unacceptable, or should be. But apparently one is okay and the other isn’t… something is terribly wrong.

Obama is a “MADISON AVENUE PRODUCTION STRAIGHT OUT OF HOLLOYWOOD.” Anyone else have a bit of trouble following that?

Barak Obama- Change?
What change?…the only change I see for 21st century in the US; is if Obama wins; he will be dark skinned? Ok, let’s hear what is going to be different? Still waiting to hear the “HOPE” plan…”GEE I hope I win!”. Obama is a professional politician that his only real focus is to get elected. In following the best of political practices; He is riding that fence that divides the middle like a true pro. Elected as a Senator and then off he runs to get another job?;- as the next President of the US. He is sounds like some teenager that gets employed at the airport’s baggage booth and then thinks he knows all their is to know about airports…and then applies for a pilot’s position.

For a person who descibes himself as a civil rights and decrimination lawyer, one would think Obama would know not to be gender biased. He is gender biased. His Vice president choice should be a PERSON.

He should pick Jeremiah Wright as the VP
