Original Article: According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) financial disclosure reports filed by the campaign earlier this year, between February 25th and May 17th Obama paid $832,598 to Citizens Services, Inc. (CSI), one of the nearly seventy Not-for-Profit companies registered at the ACORN New Orleans headquarters on 1024 Elysian Fields Avenue [SEE IMAGE OF THE NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS of CSI as well as 20 other businesses.]. CSI now also shares an office with ACORN in Chicago at 209 W. Jackson St., home of the SEIU (Service Employees International Union).

On the surface, the 11 separate payments to CSI appear to be for services typically useful to a campaign. However, as confirmed by one of its directors, CSI does not offer the services listed on the Obama campaign expense reports. According to the director, and as found in various disclosure reports from other candidates, CSI specializes in field operations, specifically grass roots organizing for get out the vote efforts. The Obama expense reports list the following payments to CSI: $564,342 for Stage, Sound, Lighting, $138,000 for Advance Work, $18,417 for Polling and $98,451 for Travel/Lodging. There is no “get out the vote” expenditure to CSI in the reports.

After retrieving a copy of CSI’s business registration form from the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office, on July 24th one of our researchers contacted Sunday Alabi, the first Director listed on the corporate filing. Our caller asked Mr. Alabi if CSI could provide Stage, Sound and Lighting for a campaign. Mr. Alabi’s response was that those services are not the nature of CSI’s business and that our caller would need to contact ACORN. The same response was given when questioned about polling and campaign advance work. But those are the services listed by Obama on the FEC reports. Services supposedly performed by CSI.

CSI is supposedly totally independent of ACORN. However, Jeff Robinson, who reportedly heads the company, is listed in his LinkedIn public profile as the National Deputy Political Director-Campaigns and Elections at ACORN and the Political Director at Communities Voting Together which, by the way, contributed $60,000 to CSI. In May of this year he publicly endorsed the Bob Blumenfield campaign by way of his position as a Director of ACORN. Furthermore, all of CSI’s directors are in ACORN leadership. One should ask why there appears to be so much deception and misdirection surrounding a tiny storefront not-for-profit organization from New Orleans.

Do you pay a fast food restaurant to set a broken bone? That is, incredibly, how absurd these election reports are. A brief conversation with an enforcement officer at the FEC, using hypothetical names, yielded the following response.

According to the FEC, in a situation where a campaign committee reports that they paid a company for services that the company says they do not provide, there is reason to be suspicious. It was irregular. And, it was inappropriate. To wit in 1997 Congresswoman Mary Rose Oakar (OH) was prosecuted by the U.S. Justice Department for conspiracy to deceive the FEC as to the true nature of the campaign contributions and expenditures that she was required to report. Falsifying federal disclosure reports is a serious matter and it is a crime. If the FEC chooses to exercise equal enforcement then Senator Obama could very well be subject to prosecution.

Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice. On June 30 I celebrate my independence day and on July 4 I celebrate America’s. This year is special, because it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence.
On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba and a few months later I was in the United States to stay. That I happened to arrive in Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the story, but I digress. I’ve thought a lot about the anniversary this year. The election-year rhetoric has made me think a lot about Cuba and what transpired there. In the late 1950s, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at least receptive.
When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell in love with him. They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in. When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone followed. When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said “Praise the Lord.” And when the young leader said, “I will be for change and I’ll bring you change,” everyone yelled, “Viva Fidel!”
But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the executioner’s guns went silent the people’s guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By the time everyone received their free education it was worth nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him. By the time the change was finally implemented Cuba had been knocked down a couple of notches to Third-World status. By the time the change was over more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes. You can call those who made it ashore anywhere else in the world the most fortunate Cubans. And now I’m back to the beginning of my story.

I am an affiliate broker in real estate and it is not unusual for a person with money like McCain to have numerous properties under the oversight of property management. In some situations, they buy and sell property without contacting the person with the money. The person with money has a cap on how much of his/her money can be used to buy and sell houses. They are in the business making money for the person with the money. Today a person may have five houses and next week they may be sold and ten purchased. McCain has more important things on his mind that keeping up with such a trivial thing like how many houses he owns. Obama can’t tell anyone how much money he has in the bank or what his assets are worth any one day because those things fluctuate every day. It’s simply stupid for anyone to even question a man on things such as this. There are more important educated questions that can be asked. Wake up America!!!

John McCain’s response demonstrates that he obviously spends his time thinking about ways to make America better, rather than cluttering his mind with details about personal material things.

Like most “things” in life, what appears on the surface is not the real issue and the answer to the real issue normally can be used to draw many comparisons. (example) If a person lies to their mother, there’s a good chance that they will lie to their wife and in any case they are a liar. (example) If I steal from my employer, there’s a good chance I will steal from my friends and because I stole from my employer I am therefore a thief.

My wife and my friends do not think that I am a liar or a thief but that does not make it true.

If John McCain cannot answer a simple question about the normal means of quantifying ones financial wealth, in this case the number of houses he owns, what does this mean? Is he “bad” with money? Does his wife or accountants handle his finances? Is his own financial security of no consequence therefore he does not care? Are there sticky financial dealings that he is hiding and needs to formulate an orchestrated answer before responding? Is he simply out of touch? Draw as many conclusions as you like. I prefer the latter, considering he believes that if a person earns $5 million dollars a year or more then they are financially wealthy…WHAT? Sigh, is he serious? I am not a financial analyst; however I can perform a calculation to know that if I wanted to see that much money over my entire lifetime working for 30 years I would have to make $166,000 a year. With the average median income in the US around $61,000 a year that doesn’t even come close to 1/2. It’s laughable and for me clearly means that he just does NOT get IT! He borders on senility.
I have not made up my mind yet in regard to where my vote is to be cast. I was a lukewarm Clinton supporter, but have zero trust for my remaining choices. Neither shows an adequate level of leadership to navigate the terrible maze that lies ahead. It amazes me that ANYONE can look at any of these candidates and feel confident that we will not spend our children into bankruptcy (which they are close to doing NOW), meddle in foreign governmental affairs and push the WWIII envelope, reduce our dependency on cocaine, err, I mean oil….and the list can continue. Anyone with half a brain knows the issues that affect them the most. I seriously am a registered democrat and depending on the day and the current nonsense on television will vacillate between either of these men, trying to decide which one will lead this wondrous nation. It is disheartening that they neither of them has “it.”

With that said, in my mind, the McCain House Issue is huge and speaks to SO many other problems with him as a potential commander in chief.

If you did a little reading (no, Cindy, popup books do not count), you would have found out that McCain’s 2007 IRS form showed he made around $450,000 (they have allways filed separate returns). Anything above this was his wife’s take on her beer distributerships. How about President George W. Bush? He reported about $700,000 in income in 2007. However, he donated just over $160,000 to charities and churches (19%). Obamamama? He earned roughly 4 mil and donated around $240,000 (5.8%). I guess conservatives care about the poor more than the libs. How do you like that?

John Mccain and his wife have had a prenuptial agreement during their 27 year old marriage. Cindy Mccain inherited her parents business, a beer distribution company, and by all definitions is wealthy. However, she has kept most of her finances seperate from her husband for many years, and they even file taxes seperately.

On his own, McCain’s individual earnings come from his senate salary ($161,708) and sales of his five books ($176,508). He receives social security benefits and a pension from the Navy. He earned $361,373 in 2005 and $358,414 in 2006 and $405,409 in 2007, based on a USA TODAY article found online.

Obama’s total 2007 income reported on his taxes was $4,238,165. He really has no right to criticize McCain for “owning 7 homes” tecehnically they are his wife’s homes, all in her name and probably all in her prenuptial agreement with her husband.

Th American Dream is to be rich and successful so it is a silly argument to complain that one candidate is “richer” than another. Some Candidates, and politicians on both sides of the aisle are very wealthy, John Kerry, who also is married to a wealthy wife, The Kennedys and the Bush’s have
huge family fortunes.

Don’t we all aspire to own a nice home or several if we can be so blessed? Don’t we all want to make as much money as possible?

What is really disturbing is the image Obama wants to portray, that he “worked his way through college” when anyone who has tried to reasearch this fact, can only find two summer jobs he held.
Clearly, Obama has never fully explained how he was able to pay for his college, or for that matter the million dollar home he and his wife purchased when he was only a junior senator and did not have the $4 million in earning yet, when he purchased his home. A junior Senator does not make that much money, and since he bought it from a convicted felon, suspicions could be raised. I think the best thing Obama could do is shut his mouth about McCain’s supposed wealth, because clearly Obama is pretty darn wealthy too.

I served under John McCain. Out of my 20 year career he is the only Navy Captain that I remember. He was not an eletist officer as most that I served under were. He cared about his troops. He commanded the largest squadron in the Navy. He made it a practice to visit all the shops in the squadron once a week. I remember the 1st week I was in the squadron he came in and saw me and knew I was new there. He came to me and found out who I was and where I was from. He cared about his troops and he will (and does) care about the American people. He has my respect and I will vote for him. Fair seas and following winds John.

All of the arguments here are just a case of core republicans in a thug-of-war with core democrats. I am independent, therefore my argument is on a higher plane than the rest of yours. So read carefully and learn.
Mr MCain turned this beautiful intellectual presidential campaign on it’s head when he came out with that Paris Hilton ad, tell so much about his after work internet activities – A night in Paris, I guess. And to think he swore not to engage in negative campaigning, well, like he would laugh at y’all and say, “we are only having fun”…no Granpa! You lied!
America is at it’s lowest ebb right now, the threat of recession, the senseless war for oil in Iraq, and the new thirst for war against Russia cos of Georgia…I think America is doomed if Mr. Mcain becomes President, cos it will all be a continuation of wars and the hunt for more war (I won’t be surprised if war is declared on Zimbabwe too, lol)
