Investigation to begin into whether Governor Sarah Palin abused her power in firing Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan
By Corey Allen-Young, CBS 11 News Reporter
Article Last Updated: 07/28/2008 06:49:51 PM AKDT

Lawmakers will hire someone within a week to investigate whether Governor Sarah Palin abused her power in firing Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. The legislative council approved 100,000 dollars for the investigation that will find out whether Palin was angry at Monegan for not firing an Alaska State Trooper who went through a messy divorce with Palin’s sister.
On Monday afternoon, the Joint Legislative Council, filled with Republicans and Democrats, voted 12 to 0 to formally call for an investigation against Governor Palin in a manner—that they are stressing—will be unbiased and done in a timely fashion.

Legislators approved hiring a special investigator to look into the controversial firing of former Public
Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. Monegan was fired two weeks ago without explanation and has said he was pressured by the governor and her staff to fire a trooper who was once married to Palin’s sister.
************
Before posting on various blogs, you should gather ALL the information. Clearly you can see that this State Trooper had some real problems and should have been dealt with.

Mr Monegan had previously refused to fire Mrs Palin's estranged former brother-in-law, a state trooper who allegedly threatened to shoot her father during a nasty child custody battle with her sister.

Mrs Palin said that Mr Monegan was removed for failing to fill vacancies and welcomed a public examination of her actions. Mr Moneghan said he was put under pressure to sack the state trooper Michael Wooten by Mr Palin's husband Todd and a senior aide.

An internal trooper investigation had found Mr Wooten guilty of several infractions - using a Taser stun gun on his stepson, drinking on duty, threatening his then father-in-law and shooting a moose without a permit, the Anchorage Daily News reported yesterday.

I still want Hillary Clinton to be president. Or at the least Vice President. Barack Obama made a very big mistake not having her be his Vice President. Big mistake. I will be voting, but I'm still undecided. Looks like Mc Cain is closer to what Americans want. And he chose a woman.

"The Bourbon Room", how southern elitist can you get? But only the consumption of large quantites of alcohol can explain the cloudy alcoholic haze that entertainer Major Garret sees the world through. I can't understand how people can be so naive as to confuse the Fox Entertainment Channel with real hard news channel; Fox more closely resembles Comedy Central than anything else, and is always good for a laugh. These are the same sad, ignorant people who believe all the viral emails and think Obama was educated in a Madrasa, when 10 seconds worth of research at Politifact.com or Factxheck.com would clear things up. People far too stupid to check the facts. Stupid sheep. :D

I am very disapointed in American Democrats this year. Hillary ia a Church going God fearing person and people let her down. Yet Obama is a person that has absolutely no Church Home and is very associated with the Devil, Bill Ayers, Minister Wright and a slue of Muslims, and you set him on a pedestal, and try to make him a king; "What is the matter with you Americans?"
These four people has arose from no where Barack, Michelle and their two children looking for glory, and living off of the life of others; Obama is not going to help you anymore than he is helping his black family in Kenya. He has a bone to pick against his African father, because he walked away from him at a young age, now he thinks he can show the world responsibility, well i am not enthused about him and his misfourtune with his family. You think you have had a hard time Americans? well try walking a mile in my shoes. and when these taxes sprang upon you, you will know what I am talking about, living from month on a $466.00 check a month. God bless you all, because you will need it with a President, that don't have or fear a GOD...

I dont know why, but I keep coming to these forums looking for substantive, policy based reasons why folks have such a problem with Obama.....and I continue to be disappointed. Whether you hate the man, his color, his name or not, why would Hillary Clinton supporters vote for more tax breaks, more reckless spending in Iraq, more siding with big oil and big business, just because they cant get over a primary loss? Is hate still this powerful in a country that asks for God's blessings?

Like the Obama campaign, I want to believe America is better and smarter than this, but if Im wrong, not only is the Democratic party about to go down the toilet, so is the country.

Please vote your conscience, but make it about the issues, not the ideologies. I understand change can be painful, but its gotta be better than what we have now folks.

Barack Obama is the least qualified presidential candidate ever to run for office in this country. The only reason blacks will vote for him is because he is black and the only reason whites will vote for him is to prove they are not prejudice. Talk about affirmative action!!! The man has no qualifications and no experience. If he was white no one would vote for him.
